You mean the movie or the documentary? At the 1999 Andrews AFB airshow, they had a replica of the Hunley on a truck bed. If you want to really get a handle on it's size, go outside and find the nearest above ground propane tank. You know, those pill shaped things that smell funny and usually are painted mint green, white, or silver. Now double the length. That is about the size that the Hunley was, well at least the replica they had was.... maybe it was the originial?IP: Logged |

The movie. As far as the dimensions go, approx 4ft wide by 5ft high. 39 ft (approx) long. The Hunley has yet to be brought up as far as I'm aware. There's a few web sites on the subject and fund raising to get the project under way. Here's a pic painted in 1863:

The movie was great, I usually like watching the guy in who played the lead in movies. Tough luck for that kid who volunteered at the last minute.IP: Logged |

Yeah the real clinker is that they could have opened the hatch after it had filled up, it showed the young guy trying to force it open while they were still full of air. Imagine being so close between life and death. Here's the webpage that has the info on raising the sub: http://www.hunley.org/hunley.html
