I can see why FCTOE was passed on to Jane's/EA. A good move, possibly, to aid the game in seeing the light of day. I really hate to see game companies go away.

Especially the GOOD ones. Every LG game I played was great. They seemed to be one of the few developers that took the time to think of something original to add to a game.

That, and it cuts down on competitive pressures on the other guys who do simular games (think MS Windows, and apply that thought to fligh sims, RPGs, and FPSs). Scarry thought....

As I heard David Thielan put it at a game dev conference, Microsoft isn't in this for the money, nor to control the world. They're in it for the dead bodies. They measure their success by how many other companies they put out of business. Other people in the room pointed out that games are different, because you're starting pretty much from ground zero on each game. You don't have an upgrade as you do in office apps. He said their likely strategy would be to look at say, RTS games. If 10 RTS games release each year and 4 do well, Microsoft won't try to make the best RTS game there is each year. They'll release 40. They may not make money, but it's for sure nobody else will, either.

Yes Mighty,

I am sure that pleases the shareholders. Do they have a graph with a red line that represents dead bodies instead of profits?

Well, an ancillary result of their strategy has been making gobs of money for their shareholders. Up until the judges decision, anyway.
