You know, I just started flying sims again after a long pause in the action (thanks to an utter disgust with Gunship!)I loaded up EAW, along with all of the terrains, skins, STAB, etc. etc. I then took my P-38 for some very nice flights. To make a long story short, in playing EAW again, I realized just how much SDOE sucked. I'm surprised I wasted more time than I did with it...twice. --scharmers P.S. DanW, you didn't "get rid of me". I simply deigned SDOE and its community to be beneath my lofty notice, and spent my valuable time playing other, better sims.

If you've wasted so much time already, why waste even more time again ?If we are so much below you lofty notice, why come back again? Why !!! because you are an ARSEHOLE.

What an idiot. He couldn't get enough first time around. OK moron boy.... What is so bloody good about a sim that looks like a stupid bloody painting? I love the fact that you went and DL'ed all the little crap for EAW, but won't get the online standard updates for FS. BTW, I don't believe you did the first time, your report was full of innacuracies that could only happen if you didn't load the files.... Tis a shame that you came back, things were so nice around here.... But I guess that even a stupid computer nerd with nothing better to do then harrass a group of people that are happily enjoying themselves has to get his jollies somehow. You remind me of those 12 year olds that go around Team Killing in the FPS games. Annoying little morons that needed to be beat a bit more before letting them be unleashed on the world. Get a grip, Get a life and even more important, get a girlfriend. Perhaps once you have been laid you will calm down and stop taking out your frustrations on everyone else. Mir OutIP: Logged |

All right, who forgot to close the doggy hole in the door? Now look what's crawled in.You mean you can actually fly in EAW? Boy that's a shocker. Except for the fly-by view, there is nothing in EAW that gives you the idea that you're actually moving, let alone flying! Dare I say it, but Luftwaffe Commander (yuck) has more motion to it than EAW. If you'd stop strokin' your joystick you might notice that when your monitor stops shaking. Besides, you'll go blind doing that stuff. Oops, didn't see your white/red cane there. Sorry.

Scharmers-I own EAW, WWII and SDOE. I liked EAW. The software just feels like a finished, complete, well thought out and executed product. I also liked the feel of being part of a big war in a big environment feel to the game. My problem with EAW was that I found the A2A AI boring?!! So far, I've completed the BoB campaign on the British side. While flying that campaign I found that even with all difficulty settings maxed I was bringing home 2 to 4 kills per mission and rarely taking a ping from enemy fighters. Now the bombers butchered me several times! I found the enemy fighter AI very much lacking. Several times I'd catch an enemy fighter in position were they could have done some serious damage to me and they seem to just ignore that my aircraft was in thier sky! Have you found some way to have the enemy AI be more agressive? This issue made the game down right boring for me. For that reason EAW is sitting on my shelf and not on my hard drive. GUYS, GUYS,Don't lower yourselves to these standards. That post doesn't even deserve a response from intelligent folks like yourselves. "Ignorance is bliss" meaning if there is not response to that crap it'll soon be at the bottom and then gone for good. Those people are just looking for you to defend and attack, they thrive on that and that alone. Pathetic... Psi IP: Logged |

Hey Scharmers. I had been meaning to e-mail you for several weeks, and post a message to the group about this, but time, work, and an aging memory have all been working against me. A friend bought a copy of FS in the discount bin knowing I have it and like it, and while having a "wives take the night out - guys have to watch kids but fight back by barbequing T-Bones and drinking beer" deal, between bouts of succumbing to demands made by various children, I loaded FS onto his machine and began the ardous task of finding and installing all appropriate patches and stuff. He had heard me speak of the task being akin to the search for the Holy Grail, and had requested my assitance. To make a long story short, I downloaded the 1.5, the 5.3, the "a," and all that. This was even before the "b." After all the downloading and installing, it still flew like the 5.2 or before. Possibly even like the original version. The Mustang flew around omnipotent, and I don't think it had any of the FM characteristics that the new versions have. I can't remember if it said 5.3a or not, actually we didn't go online. That's right. Should have checked it out further, but the kids were yelling, the steaks were burning, and the beer seemed to taste better and better. The important thing was that I had loaded all the stuff correctly, in the right order, and for some reason, I don't think it altered the FM's at all. I don't know what glitch it could be, but it might explain why our friend Mr. Scharmers goes to all the trouble to load all this stuff, and then can't seem to see what we're talking about. If I had loaded all the stuff and it flew like it did for me at my friend's house, I'd probably be saying the same thing. Probably not in the same taunting, abrasive manner, but the basic content would be similar. Anyway, just wanted to throw this out there for folks. I know most of us have been doing this stuff slowly, building up our installs, and didn't know if someone starting from scratch, through some glitch, might not be getting the benefit of all the FM work due to some weirdness while installing. I know others have deleted and reinstalled OK, so we don't need a lot of, "Well, I don't know what your problem is, but I did it, and it worked fine for me!" posts, because we already know it has worked for some on clean installs, but from my experience and Scharmer's more detailed descriptions of how the planes flew after installing all the stuff in some of his more constructive posts in the past, obviously sometimes there is a glitch that is causing the patches and stuff not to work. Spanky here... Well I guess the only way to TRULY test your install is to go online and try some online flying. If you don't get mismatches then your all cool right. IP: Logged |
