Harvey,Sinatra,King Crimson,Pretenders,Pantera,Miles Davis,KMFDM,Old Mettalica, anything with Steve Gadd,Alice in Chains(up to the "Dirt" cd),Neil Young(louder, harder stuff),and just for you Sp@nky....Tool!I have some live stuff on tape but no double tape deck or know of anyone with one at the moment,it's only two or three songs but goddamnit it rocks! Being a drummer I can appreciate what you are saying about the drummer,he's an excellent double bass player plus he has a really good feel for odd time signatures.I've been listening to thier stuff for at least 5 years and I haven't gotten tired of it yetmud(can you believe I'm 37!)shark IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Wa thats quite the collection JT some crazy stuff in there and alot of stuff i havn't heard of. Weird AL LOL. Its cool but I can't actually listen to his stuff more then a couple times and then I'm done with it. White zombie? Rob zombie? never heard of leftfield Zappa,,HECK YEAH AMAZING STUFF Pantera, some times Miles Davis Need some ,KMFDM,Old Mettalica Some times alice in Chains(up to the "Dirt" cd) Totally what did they do to their music have you ever listened to mad season? No biggy on the tape man. There should be MP3s out there somewhere. Do you have all the albums? The drummer is just crazy, yeah the timeing is what Mad Dog noticed most too, thats one of his fav parts of tool. I REALLY like the singer, he just kicks and the lyrics are pretty damn intelligent. Not to leave out the other parts of the band. Its just those 2 parts stick out the most with them. BTW have you ever listened to Kyuss? There pretty damn good too. After tool I stuck in some NIN. Man he is a crazy genius. I mostly like Pretty hate, but the newest double is pretty damn good. I'm more into pretty cause it SO DAMN CLEAN. No hiss or anything. And really good really loud and kind to your stereo. Not as much screaming and distortion as the some of the newer ones.

Being a drummer as well, I can relate to some of those above...but having lived near the Canadian border-- I have seen Rush many times in Montreal and here in Albany, Syracuse, and Rochester. Neal Peart is quite a drummer for his age And a great songwriter as well...if you can get into his cerebral style. My friend and I at one point ran the lighting department at our college for many concerts...and we just walked up to the lighting board of a concert with Eric Johnson and Rush...we ended up hanging out with their road manager Howard Ungerleider (sp?) for the whole show...very cool!------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

Jeeves I was born in Syracuse. Yeah rush is pretty good. I don't listen to them but I certainly don't hate them. I should get some of there stuff someday. I like the older stuff more.

Spanky here... Well I guess I'll fill ya in on some of the rest. K grabing some stacks that don't fit in any cd holders cause there full. here we go radio head the crow soundtrack and crow 2 van halen pearl jam faith no more (anything angel dust or older) led zepplelin filter smashing pumpkins dr hook u2 alice in chains rocky horror picture show sound track i mother earth the tea party nirvana white zombie corrosion of conformaty Black sabbath and black sabbath covers The doors I'm also in to Classical but i'm having a hard time finding some in this town thats not one of those crap 9.99 cds. I think I need to mail order some audiophile quality stuff. As soon as you turn those cheap ones up all ya hear is hiss in the low parts. I find anyways. I also listen to techno but have a hard time finding some that I like. I really hate all that crap on dance mix 99 friggin much music or MTV cds. I get some unknown stuff of the net. XMs and Mods. Fast tracker stuff. We don't got much rap at all. Just some Busta Rhymes. No country for me, IF I was going to listen to some it would be some old stuff. Not this new country crappola. So now that we coverd that what kinda machine are you guys listning to this stuff on? Me Shearwood 5 disk (to be replaced as soon as possible with a rotel or nad single disk) Shearwood Receiver, actually quite nice but its only being used as a pre amp anyways. Nad 2150 Power amp, Only 50+50 but don't let watts fool ya this is a quality peice of work. Plus I have a small living room. Clements large book shelf speakers, Ported. 1 tweet and one 6" poly woofer. Some where around 75-100 watts? again doesn't matter its all a bunch of marketing hype anyway. They sound great and have TONs of base for there size and price. and the kick ass part is the 10 year warrenty. there on Metal stands on spikes that can be filled with shot or sand for extra wieght but i'm too lazy . there plenty heavy already. Lastly a little 60 watt yamaha sub. K maybe thats the first thing that has to go. Its getting a little noisy and it was second hand. probly a paradime or somthing similar will take over someday. METALLICA (old), MANOWAR, White Zombie (and just plain ol' "Rob"), Megadeth, Black Sabbath, ... some Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Coal Chamber, Kittie, KornAnd it has to be played... LOUDER THAN HELL Testament sounds good, and I saw Powerman 5000 (with Rob Zombie's little bro, Spider) and Sevendust in concert... they were pretty damn good. It was outdoors and there was a pit out on the lawn. Muddy, sweaty, sometimes bloody Sounds like rugby. I sometimes listen to humorous things like Wierd Al and Dr. Demento type stuff. What I can't stand is rap, country, "rap-rock," boy bands, and all that nasty shit. Oh yeah and gospel or "contemporary Christian" would put me in a killing mood. Its supposed to sound pretty good. I'm getting an MP3 right now I don't think the albums out in stores but I could be. Also from what I heard this isnt' the end of Tool, its just a side project. Tools next album is supposed to be out in 2 months Course this is just stuff I heard from my game store clerk. Anyways, just thought some might be interested.

Various and most of the really cheesy 80's early new wave and rock stuff. I currently live in Oklahoma and Cannot STAND Country... GAG.... or most of the new rap is really old and the same old same old. I hate kiddie pop and teeny bopper bands from any age, including early beatles... it's all crap. ;} If it is edgie or cuts the edge of music, I most likely will like it, even if it has been copied to death, the original cutting edge stuff still has an energy and sound that is great no matter how ripped off it is.
