I just have spent a few hours, massively drooling over videos from the FALL 2001 Microsoft entry into gaming consoles...XBox Wow! Gorgeous graphics and LOTS and LOTS of horsepower! Go to http://xbox.ign.com/ and read all about it! There are many screenshots and a few movies (MOV files) to watch. The pingpong ball demo and the butterflies are just amazing. I've watched them a bazillion times tonight and can't wait for the Fall of next year to buy one! I whole heartedly believe this machine will take the world by storm and be a HUGE hit. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... We shall see pete. As you know I'm a sony kinda guy LOL Its installed user base could be huge considering that is only been out 2 months and has sold 1.8 units in japan. I'm positive that the first mil in the us will sell out within days. 299 on october 26th 2000 in the US. They are promising alot, and it could happen but since its based on computer hardware I can see some pitfalls. It coudl be great if they both do well though. No doubt about it. Nintendo REALLY has its work cut out for it and to me the dreamcast will be forgotton about half way through 2001.

I just read that they bumped up the processor speed from 600 Mhz to 733 Mhz! Guys, the Sony PSX 2 only has 300 Mhz!I have a feeling the XBox's CPU power will go even higher before it's release. These are exciting times for gamers. Really, October 26th? Hehe, that's my Birthday [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 05-12-2000).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here... OH don't even fall into that trap man. Remember the Xbox chip is an off the shelf PC chip. The chip in the ps2 was custom designed for gaming. It has better floating point then i think even a 1 gig p3. You can't compare them directly with MHZ. MHZ mean shit mother fuck. Really about that much I can get a k63-500mhz but it still blows ass to a cel 400 there alot of other advantages under the PS2 hood. But really the biggest is the head start it has. The installed user base. The custom made for gaming aspect, and the fact that its riding the wave of ONE of the most successfull consoles in history (not I didn't say the most, I said ONE of the most, I'm sure the game boy has sold more and maybe even the Nes.) On top of that Microsoft doesn't have the best rep going latly. We shall see though. Like I said theres nothing wrong with 2 or even 3 successful consoles on the market as some people already buy that many anywyas. If it does well then I plan on getting both. IP: Logged |

Tell me about it!I have right now, an SNES, a N64, a PSX, a Dreamcast, a Color Gameboy (doesn't really count but just thought I'd throw it in), and on the otherside of the fence, a 220Mhz PC, a 450 Mhz PC, and an old Apple PowerMac 7500/100. So, knowing my current track record, as long as the games kick butt I'll buy the console. Die Hard gaming has been a part of my household for a LONG time

I want the Xbox so I can play DVD movies after a hard day of sitting on my butt, playing PS 1&2 games. I'd rather get an international version so my wife can watch her Japanese DVD's on it as well. The region coding is such a crock. At least on the old PC it is possible to simply not put in a region code. Nothing like doing the time because they think you'll do the crime. Just think while all of those poges running Xboxes and plunking down their $300-$400 for their 733, 64MB RAM, 8GB HD, and 40x CD-ROM, you'll be running at 2x the frame rate with your 1.5GHZ CPU, 512MB RAM, a 100GB HD, and spinning at x64 on your DVD, all the while getting 6.1 Dolby Digital Sound squeaking out of your speakers at a 88mhz sampling rate and playing any of the 2000% more games than they can on their ex-box. Spanky here.. Why would you need the xbox to watch DVDs? THe PS2 plays them. REgion coding does suck major ass, its just a huge cash grab by the movie companys. Its illegal from what i hear to sell a dvd player in New Zeland (sorry can't spell rihgt now) with region coding built in. There will be a chip for PS2 to disable that feature, I'm almost 100% on that. Yes you shall be running your games on a more powerfull machine for sure. At 4xs the price. Even if you don't like consoles man, you have to admit they make alot of sence for people that just want to play games, and for people that just plain suck ass with computers and shouldn't even really have them in the first place. Not to mention people that can't afford that $2000 computer.

I get these console systems because I like to know if I'm missing anything good. I really do like my Sega Dreamcast, but I know it's glory days are numbered.IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Yeah they are looking good. Yeah pete exactly I really would get more systems if I could. The sony just happened to have alot of good games so I got that. I would maybe get a dreamcast or maybe would have gotten a N64 but I can't stand the controlers. I don't know what they were thinking. IP: Logged |
