Sorry, I guess the census got me in a survey kind of mood. For me, I'd have to say that it was either Tempest or Stargate... and I remember liking Robotron, but it was too freaking hard. Other notables... Gorf, Shinobi, Star Wars, and Dig Dug.

SpyHunter....a fun game, even in 2D - it was all that it needed.IP: Logged |

LOL, Whirlwind, That is what I was going to say.I would play SpyHunter just before driving home from work. Then I had to try NOT to run other cars off the road while on my way home. ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site

Well, putting my money where my mouth is, right now at home I have an Asteroids, Missile Command and a Black Knight 2000 pinball. My roomie has built up a MAME machine which includes Bosconian, Joust, Gauntlet, Defender, Stargate, Battlezone, Donkey Kong and about a dozen others.More game companies need to pick up some old arcade classics. Even better, publishers should get some of those games for the company. Many of those games are still fun. Strong proof that good game play doesn't need the latest eye candy. Albeit, eye candy can help a good game be even better. IP: Logged |

I had trouble with Zaxxon. I mean, it was definitely a cool looking game, but because everything on screen was displayed axonometrically, I had trouble perceiving depth and also had trouble translating what was going on on screen to which direction I needed to move the joystick. I also disliked Asteroids. I could never get the ship to go where I wanted it.Here's another cool game, though... Does everyone remember Battlezone? I loved the pace of that game and the sounds were awesome. Oh yeah... and that reminds me... how about Moon Patrol! Hehehe... I can still remember the music from that... oh the garbage in my mind. :-)

What was the name of that really, really old game where you would drive around in a hot rod, as seen from top view, and run over ghosts or something and then little tombstones appear? It was bizzare but very cool in a pop art sort of way.[This message has been edited by JT (edited 04-17-2000).] IP: Logged |

'Roids just takes practice. We had it at a theatre I worked at. Between the group of us we came up with some useful techniques. The classic example is playing "Sauceroids" instead of Asteroids.Every once in awhile the manager would click us up some free games. That's when we'd play Han Solo and practice our driving skills :-) IP: Logged |

Burkey, there are several versions of MAME. Most are DOS, which means no USB support. If you look around you should find one that runs as a Windows app and can get at DirectX, which will support your USB joystick.IP: Logged |

LOL! I still have an 8-bit Atari computer in my garage that my wife wants me to throw away... It's hard to part with the thing since it has Pack-Man, Joust, Stat Raiders, Spy Hunter, etc., etc., ... IP: Logged |
