This came to me on from a listserve notice.
If your email provider doesn't allow you to attach large files to your
messages, check out WhaleMail (http://www.whalemail.com). It's a free
service that is used in conjunction with your existing email address. You
don't wind up with another email address to check and maintain.
To send a file, you log in to WhaleMail, upload the file (up to 50MB), and
then address your message. The recipient gets a message from you that
contains a pointer to the file's location on the WhaleMail server; the
file isn't actually attached to the message. You can leave the file on the
server for up to seven days, giving recipients plenty of time to download
it. Though you need to register for the service, your email recipient
doesn't.
More a file transfer service than an email service, WhaleMail is an easy
way to send large files without having to post them on your own server.
The only downside is that once you're registered in the WhaleMail
database, you'll periodically receive announcements about products and
services.
