G'day All,
I begin to wonder why no one mentions Janes WWII fighters or Nations Fighter Command.
I personally haven't seen nations, but i haven't seen FS:SDOE running either. So if anyone could tell what nations is like... well that would be good. ( I am going to buy FS: SDOE and then I am going to have to download everything, in fact I've already started).

Janes seems fairly decent and looks much better than EAW (huge explosions, those models and damage) However I am aware of its failings such as lack of spins, those crappy bomber windows and Ju88 ventral gondala on thbe wrong side. Plus the fact that Janes quite simply stated they were not allowing it to be edited and threw development away.

Let's imagine that nations is a beautiful woman flirting with you at a smoke and dark bar. She's cute, you're interested, so you slide down the bar to the next seat, and she slides down the bar to the next seat, so you start really checking each other out. You notice her hair isn't as perfect as you saw it was when she was farther away, then you notice a mole on her cheek, but it adds 'character' and makes her stand out. You decide to test your luck, so you keep sliding to the next seat, and so does she, until you are setting right next to her. You think, 'damn, she looks hot as can be, she isn't dressed the best, but the whole package looks awesome.' So you decide to ask if you could take her home, but before you do, she asks you, with a somewhat raspy voice, but it is ok, and you say yes, after paying her $50. You get her to your place and start removing layers of clothing. With each piece of clothing removed, you notice few more flaws, but they are ok, you can encourage her to go and get 'enhanced' at a later time, so you start to make out, and before you know it, she has you bent over backwards and you are on the receiveing in. Brother, you took home a man, and you are getting it up the backside, because if you bought Nations, you took it up the backside.

It isn't getting fixed, it isn't getting enhanced, and the owner denies it's existance one they got your money. You can forget about support, because the programming team was sacked, excluding a few people to pack and wrap what they had done into a 'playable' game. It looks pretty, some of it plays pretty, but it isn't getting any better than what it is out of the box.

Just reading this makes me uncomfortable. A very powerful analogy that one.(message received and understood) I shall not touch this game with a forty foot pole.(no pun intended)

I'm still interested on peolple's opinion of Jane's, though, without any similar analogies. I will however, Whirlwind, accept analogies that include pretty and real girls about other WWII sims.

WWII is just the geeky looking girl in the corner that no one pays attention to because there wasn't a lot of 'press' coverage. Once you get the cloths off, you'll see a lot of nice features, a gorgeous figure with good company support, but find not a lot of people go there.

You get a beautifully presented woman, with a good set of equipment, but not a lot of opportunities to enhance the options.

SDOE is like a wife, you married her, you are attached to her, she does nice things for you. On rare occasions, she gives you the most pleasure you ever had. You fight with her ever now and then, and she usually wins somehow. You find that through time and patience you can upgrade her to have more and better 'features'. She is an utter biatch. A lot of people hate her, so you hate them for it. If you get bored with her, you can always give her bigger warheads and then she is fun again. Unfortunately, you realize that you are not alone in getting the pleasurable moments from her, but it is ok, since you know the people, and they share their wives with you. You always see something better, go play with that little thing, but go back to your wife eventually. To top it all off, more often than not, you end up just playing with yourself.

That poor little geeky girl. I'll take one.

However, I am not too sure about the support. They turned me away when I asked about editing 3d models and stuff.

I am damn sure there is an anology in that.
