Just bought it. Think it's a unique sim, since it's the only one set in the Korean war. The graphics are excellent, and I especially like the way you see planes approaching by the sun glinting on their canopies. Could we implement this in SDOE?? Or someone could make some Korean war scenery, an F-86, F-80 or -84 and a MiG-15.

We shall fight on the beaches, in the streets, on the sea, in the air.... and in SDOE!!!

Spanky here...

HEHE thats funny. You say that you like mig alley but then you ask if we can put the glinting canopys and planes into SDOE. Just goes to show you what a great game SDOE really is.

I personally didn't get grabbed by Mig. But alot of people like it.

I also want to see the Korea era planes in SDOE. That would rock. As well as the glinting canopys

I didn't like the game, scenery is poor.

We should be able to make it into SDOE/OPP. The problem is that the terrain is a little bit small at the moment for jets.

I just bought it again (£15 cheaper and patches now available) and it's rather good. It crashes a lot and I just discovered that one's character never dies, even after Kamikazeing into a flak position (the bastards had to go).
I'm still trying to decide whether or not to keep it...

I've had it for a month now and can't put it down,I even stopped playing hidden & dangerous!I highly reccomend it if you like tough flight models and excellent immersion. On the graphics side,I can run the game at 1600 x 1200 max detail with no noticable slowdown.PLUS, a patch is due out in 1-2 weeks to fix multiplayer problems,I just hope m-play supports as many planes in the air as the single player game does!!

I put it down after getting that damn jerky screen effect that a lot had. Hopefully the 1.2 patch will fix it for good.
Nice p51 in it and that train chuffing along is great.
Yeah the glint is really good.

I applied the 1.2 patch three days ago. It still crashes a lot (from the in-flight map mostly when I go to max zoom, and once when I ejected) but it is very smooth at 1600x1200..remarkable. It's actually a bit of a hidden gem. It's like all the stuff we said should be in a sim has been included in Mig Alley..glinting canopies, breaking padlock when target out of sight etc etc etc.
The only big complaint I have is the immortal pilot..kind of makes it pointless to try and survive a mission.

I'm getting those lockups now&then, but I haven't patched it yet. It never crashes for me, and even with the highest resolutions, it doesn't slow down. I like thundering around in the Thunderjet (how appropriate) wiping those darn flak positions off the map. The flight models are also very good.

And the dogfights! My God, the dogfighting is outrageously well done.

Yeah. And so many planes in the air at once, cool wingmen voices and dynamic campaign.

I've heard mixed bag reviews of Mig Alley, mostly lean towards the good and really good side. The rumor mill has it that they are doing a PAW sim, after another project is done.

Glinting canopies in SDOE: It has been pretty much decided that it can be done through Openplane, but it would probably be much easier to do it through MH coding it or through the SOS project. To do it in Openplane, would require a lot of work since you would have to do it to all the planes... and the method for doing it would kind of be a hack.

More to the point is where I can get the 1.2 patch, even an earlier non official version.I had to change my voodoo 2 drivers to 3dfx to get the dam card to run with my new setup and now the game only lets me go to 800 600 resolution as I can no longer switch off the v2 d3d drivers.I beiieve the new patch fixes this.I have given up playing at the moment.Once you have tasted high res you cant go back.

Where can I pick this game up for real cheap? I almost bought it for 39.99 US. I figured I could do better not like I'm in a rush.
