I had a mail from Goatman, a really nice one. He mentioned that he had been involved in the censorship thread over at the B17 forum but I didn't particularly remember the specifics. I mailed him back and thought "what a really nice guy". Then he mailed me again and said some stuff that gave me cause to re-visit that thread.
Shock and horror when I saw how I had savaged him there. It really made me feel bad, especially as he had reminded me in his first mail that we had once had a really good time on-line in an epic battle.
I've learnt a really hard lesson from this. It's easy to savage someone on these impersonal boards without being aware of the hurt we can cause, in an almost casual manner. People that we would easily like, face to face, become abstract entities that we are often too quick to attack, horribly so, across this cold virtual space.
We all have our individual beliefs and ethics, often at odds with others. But that doesn't mean we should ever become enemies on account of them. We are all here together because we share a common passion. That should bring us together, not be a cause of spitefulness and cruelty.
I feel like I have been a real shit, and I am grateful to Goatman, a true gentleman, for giving me the chance to feel that. A lesson well learned, and long overdue.
And I take this opportunity to apologise, to everyone I've attacked recently, for my mean words. No excuse.

Siggi - Just as you have edited many of your comments so have I edited mine as the context within which they were made is gone. However, I still do stand by my beliefs as well and will post replies accordingly and within the context that they have been presented to me.
