I've been having a ball with this game since early December but I'm stuck on the second part of the campaign where you have to make your way to a river boat and nick it.
After getting the clothes and putting them on all my soldiers I keep getting shot at whenever I'm spotted by the Jerries, even without showing any guns in hand.
It seems impossible to snipe any of the Jerries close to the jetty area as any noise sets of a guy running into the boat and it's game incomplete from then on.
Any small hint to get me on my way?
No complete walk through please! Just a hint as to what I'm doing wrong.
cheers

Only take knives with you and keep them hidden (select the hand icon) until you need to use them.

Or you can take a sniper to the other side of the river away from the boat and pick of the guy who gets into the boat.

I found that if i didnt do that the boat would leave without me. Of course, after you shoot you need to be quick to pick off all the other bad guys.

I did the same as rog, but here's a suggestion for 'added fun'. Hop in the kubelwagen and carefully drive down the stairs and run Jerry over before getting in the boat. Also, I highly recommend (once you've passed the level) just ripping up and down the streets in either the kubelwagen or the Opel Admiral. Lots of fun! (Until you crash, that is.... ) Good luck!

Hey thanks for the replies. I'll give them a try, does that mean if I drop all my weapons then they won't get carried through to the next level? Bummer.
I tried the wagon but the Jerries shot at it so much it kept getting blown up, good fun though.
Cheers all.

Damn, I don't know what I've done wrong, I can't do it even with no weapons on my person.
As soon as I come in range of a guard he starts firing at me.
I left the other guys hiding someplace and just used one guy dressed in civilian clothes, no weapons. No joy.
Maybe I have to use someone with good disguise qualities only?
Arrghgh! I'm dying to get onto the next level.

Mad Dog here...

OOoo boy, you guys don't even want to get me going about the troubles I had with this mission! lol

Taking one guy into the mission seems like a good idea, but if you want to be a stickler about the continuity of the missions, taking one guy would sort of be cheating. I'm not calling anyone a cheater for doing it 'cause any way you can get that son of a bitch mission done is fair gaming lol.

Spyder, I am playing H&D through for a second time. Best FPS war sim I have ever played.

In this mission I used one man. Lieutenant Anthony "Eye" Switcher. He has 100% stealth. I armed him with a knife and a hand gun. After getting the plain clothes I was able to walk all the way to the boat (Past all guards) and jump in and leave without having to kill anybody.

Spanky, let's say that I was taking the boat to pick up the other's.

I like to play this with one man so I don't have to worry about my stupid AI getting themselves killed.

In some missions you will need all four men in the mission though. (Like that big fire fight while waiting for the Catalina)

Yeah I did it with one man, my problem from the start was sniping off a few jerries before getting the clothes. It pays to listen to the briefing and heed it!
I'm onto the first mission in the third campaign now, it sucks when your sniper rifle is out of ammo though.
cheers

Man I hate that. I didn't take enough explosives on one mission and had to start it over.

You can take one of the sniper rifles off of one of the enemy soldier's you have killed.

I have started to arm my man with German weapons that I have taken. That way I never run out of ammo. (Man that German Paratrooper Machine Gun is great if you can find one - I think it is in the later missions.)
