Ditto your hopes - I am mystified as to why this section is open, while the main message board is a deader. Guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth!

UBB is based on flat files. Any "oddities" during a write can kill the file and thus ruin the entire system - sending it into a weird state where all writes fail.

There's been a number of attempts to fix this. vBulletin is exactly like UBB in terms of looks, but is based on mySQL so it's harder to kill it. UBB also sells an upscale version that's based on mySQL, but it's a completely different product and is missing a huge number of features.

I think its time to find a new home that has the best interests of SDOE and OpenPlane as well as the community at heart. Yes I know someone who is willing if interest is shown..... (Trust me it would be a good match....)

So, is inrerest shown? Pass the word around, we need to find out....

if we can use this till sometime in jan I plan to put up a UBB board just like this on the hangar once the network admin fixed some server problems with FSH.

Raz, I'll donate a copy of vBulletin as long as I can retain ownership. I wouldn't even ask for that, but it is $200US which is like $1000000 canadian.
