OK, so its flight model is wrong and its textures aren't mapped correctly yet. In an effort to encourage those with the skill to finish this bird, I offer two basic schemes at RAF Harkness.

They're only 256x256 (although my working file is 1024x1024 with the future in mind) since I presume its SM does not support higher-res textures yet and I have left off the serial numbers and underwing roundels due to texture distortion.

I have also not replaced panel lines from the original Mossie texture which was used as a base or knocked myself out getting the upper fuselage textures to line up with the side textures since some very weird mapping things are going on. Such work would probably be a waste of time at this stage, so it can wait until someone finishes this great "what if" aircraft!

Greetings 3dp!
I know what youŽve been going through
trying to skin this bird properly.
I guess it has to be remapped totaly before any serious hi-res textures can be made for this one.
But still youŽve done a great work within the frames of what is possible now &
IŽve got a fairly good side view of it and will try to ad at least a few panel lines from that pic, "IF" it turns out good enough IŽll mail to you

3dp,
Great work so far. I hope you don't mind but I have an OT question. What image program do you use to get the corners tabs on your image? They look like photo album tabs but I have searched various programs to find these but have drawn a blank. If it is Photoshop, I'm out of luck. Too much $$. But I like the comic book art-style a guy over at the dogfighter forum is able to come up with.

Thanks

Riverrat,

Way back when I made my first new Cutaway BMPs for FS-SDOE, I started with one of the squadron images from the game and just cut out the picture and used it as a layer in PhotoShop, placing the new image in another layer below it. So it didn't come from a program but rather from FS-SDOE itself. I have always been very keen to mimic the look and feel of the game. The sepia toning of the squadron photos is a default Action in PhotoShop, but I'm sure other apps can do the same or something similar.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, you're welcome to my base Photoshop file if you have an app which can open it (email me), or you do end up with PhotoShop, a magnificent but pricey program. I did just see in a store tonight what appeared to be a "lite" version of it called 'Adobe PhotoShop ?????' which was considerably less. You may want to look into that.

Thanks 3dp. Your information is very helpful. I'll check the "lite" version out. I use Paint Shop Pro now. Just bought it so real green yet. So much to learn. I'll let you know how I make out. May not be real soon, busy right now. Haven't even completed installing WW1-2 yet. Winter will soon be here.

Thanks again
