This time around delete your do17 directory entirely before unpacking this file. I have run this version through a 16 plane all do-17 dogfight with no crashes at all on my system. If you're still having trouble try renaming your aircraft directory and make a new aircraft directory with just the do17 in, in case you have some old files installed that are causing problems.

Sorry Tailslide, no glory. With beta 4 as the only plane in the aircraft directory I still CTD with the training mission. I made a mission with the ju88 and it worked. I made the same mission with the do17 and it CTD. It loads to the mission start, I hear a second of engine sound and CTD...like a loadout or startup .ppf file problem.IP: Logged |

I've been able to play the Barbarosa missions that uses the Pe-2. I'll make one when I get home just to be sure. I still think it's something on my machine that's causing this and not the aircraft file. I'm screwing up my courage to replace my on board video this weekend so maybe this'll just go away. Assuming I don't lose the video altogether. Maybe I should do some of that stuff I get paid to so now.

I think the problem,s connected with
the mission builder, if i make a mission
for the Do17 with its CTD directly i come
past load in. If i make a mission manualy

Hi Tailslide,Same CTD for me. Please let me know how I can help. I do remember way, way back when jedi first released his F4u, it had a ctd similar to this and its cause was(I think) a corrupted poly or normal or something like that. ------------------

Um, guys?... This may be a dumb question, but are you certain this isn't just due to the aircraft not being included in the startup.ppf?Seems to me an awful lot of ctd problems in the past have been related to the startup.ppf file somehow. Just a suggestion. IP: Logged |

Another thing to add on to Gustang's post....it may be possible that you edited the startup.ppf OK...but then maybe put it somewhere other than the Media folder? I have helped others before and this has been the case...just a suggestion again  ------------------

The do17 has the same airfoils as the pe-2 so if the pe-2 works for you the do17 should work for you. It's interesting that Tommy had CTD until he created the mission in a text editor. TS

Like I said, I have no problems with the Do17 and I'm using the online standard in one folder and spoon's loadouts in another folder. I have the Do17 installed in both. Now I will say that most of the mission I've flown have been missions I made, but I have flown the mission I think it is in Training for the Do17 but again no CTD's. Strange.------------------

Nope. I just did one and the Pe doesn't work either. I have yet to remove the Do and try it though. Please don't get discouraged. It's still in Beta testing mode. Hope I'm being of some help.IP: Logged |

I've just installed the Do17 beta 4 and it's fine, no CTD's. One thing, on the training mission the fuel was set at 1. Great plane!

What the....!!! Now the Pe2 doesn't work. Something got hosed. Where can I get the latest Pe2 to reinstall? Or is their an easier fix? Like new ppf. file lines or airfoils or something?IP: Logged |

Read Tail's post above. He asked me, I think, if the Pe worked in a self-made mission as the Do-17 shares airfoils. It doesn't work on my machine and neither does his Do-17. It's a beta, so it's going to have quirks. I have yet to remove the 17 and see if the Pe works when it's gone.
Tail, I have an error log in my FS directory. Would it help for me to send it to you? It doesn't tell me a thing, but it might tell you something.

That's the point Sunray. Tailslide's Do-17 shares airfoils and whatever else with the Pe-2. Since they both CTD (yes, the Pe-2 CTD's in a stand alone mission) whatever is shared is hosed on our systems. The Pe-2 used to fly on my system, so some install somewhere buggered it and in turn CTD's the Do-17. The problem is not with the Do-17 (it works on other people's systems) it's with the shared Pe-2 files. Some of us hosed them with the same download.That's why I'm looking for a new Pe-2 install. That should fix the hosed files for both planes (or tell me what lines to add to a loadout/startup ppf file). At least that's my guess. Don't get wet. IP: Logged |

Hi all,I got the Do17 to work! The training
mission has 2 do17 flights. One flight has 1 plane with 1 pound of fuel and the other flight has 2000 pounds of fuel. After I changed the second flight fuel load to 800 pounds the mission works fine. Great plane Tailslide! Thanks for all the hard work. ------------------

Hi. Jerry. Didn't it come with PP6? Or maybe the Barbarossa missions? I've been looking through my zip file directory and can't find either. Hope we don't have re-download that for a Commie bomber. Perhaps somebody here will take pity on us and lead us to it.IP: Logged |

Tailslide, I reinstalled PP6 and now both the Pe2 and the Do17 work! Obviously something I downloaded after the original PP6 install hosed the Pe2 and in turn your Do17. Thanks for your patience. Nice plane. IP: Logged |

Good news! Yes the pe-2 comes in plane pack 6. The do-17 does not include any files that can cause problems with the pe-2. If the pe-2 is not working there is a problem with your SDOE installation and you may need to reinstall everything. TS IP: Logged |

Judas Priest! Don't talk like that. I can live without them. Although I am finding some other stuff doesn't work either. I think the Lanc has died and the Mosqitoe Bites mission never did work. Don't like bombers anyway. Except for having them to shoot at. I'm going to delete the Do ver 4 and reinstall ver 3 and see what happens. I'll let ya'll know.IP: Logged |
