The New Panzer VII (King Tiger) beta (6.2) has been released. You can get it in the vehicles section of the BCATP (http://members.xoom.com/fs_catp/). There is a long list of things still left to be done on it, but its a step in the right direction. Hopefully a new texture map will be forthcoming in the next few days, at which time the crappy skin thats on it now can be replaced. In any case, enjoy, and please feel free to send your comments regarding it to me or Archy.Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Please recheck where you have the new Panzer stored or the URL. When I go to download it I get a "page not found" error. Thanks! ------------------

Er, Actually it is panzer2.6 and here is an alternate URL: www.mosquitonet.com/~blodgett/panzer2.6.zip Hey anyone who has been following this project and knows something about openplane, do you think this could work: Say we make the prop the child of a propmount, and we make the propmount a flap object(or gear object), and we give it a DOF of 180 degree rotation along the Z axis, Then when we hit F/G, will we get Reverse? Hmm, may try this out tonight.

Sorry, I was tired when I wrote the post and made the link. Archy's right, its beta 2.6, and the bcatp link has been fixed.Pete Hawk - Any news about the new texturemap? I emailed you, but I'm not sure if I got the right address. Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Email Werner to be listed in SDOE's online phonebook today! IP: Logged |

So has anyone else tried this out? Comments? Questions? Scrap it? Or continue? We could use some assistance in the texture mapping dept.IP: Logged |

Werner, not yet. I've been very busy with my real job and the few moments I have free in a day now have been spent nursing my wifes twisted ankle (ice skating). I haven't forgotten, just have a change of priorities right now (plus that little Tomcat is always trying to have me work on it as well). I'll try to get to it this coming weekend (3 days off). Just tried out this new version and it works great here offline no more problems with the F7 key . I think it s much better this way with only one position per vehicule even if its not so easy to drive and shoot backwards. Thanks for the effort. Some graphical glitches have gone too (I used to see a third wheel in the middle of the tank when in outside view now its gone). The guy on top is a cool idea but we d need to be able to toggle him inside when fighting as it probably would be the first thing you d do in "real life". Great job anyway: we re still far from Panzer 3D but it s coming Archy if you re not deep-frozen yet tell me if you want to test it online.------------------ ___________ -=BAB=-Luny IP: Logged |

Well, what Im planning to do with the Tank commander is have him either on top, or with the C key, he would duck inside the turret and the hatch would close. Also, I will be attaching the veiwport to him, so that when he's on top, you have one view, then inside he has another. No, not frozen yet there Luny, but hot water is out at my house do to frozen propane. I may be on later tonite, it's only 9am here, and unfortunatley I have much work to do. Er also, there where really no graphical glitches, when I am working on the tank, I will unhide hidden parts so I can move them around. The wheels are such, and I just hadn't taken the time to hide them again. I also had them so you would have to be really close to see them when they are not hidden.[This message has been edited by Archy (edited 01-12-2000).] IP: Logged |

Archy - Still haven't had a chance to give it a test drive, but oddly enough, I too have been contemplating the consequences of having an internal viewport: really, we're making a cockpit for the tank, right? Have you ever seen pictures of the inside of a panzer, let alone a tiger II? Also, will their be rectangular view ports in front, both sides and rear so you can use the hat to switch views, and not have to use shift-numpad. One other thing. On an earlier version of the tank where the 'viewpoint' was just above the turret, if you used shift-numpad you could cycle around enough to look inside the tank, and it killed any sense of realism because it was obvious the 3d model was a tank shell. Are you going to model a 'cube' inside the turret so that when the commander descends, your view is limited to what the commander would see normally?I apologize for the fragmented nature of this post- I turned my mind loose and just typed whatever ideas came to me.
