Did you know that there are close to 170 keyboard commands reserved for SDOE???OPPs is making available the following comprehensive list of keyboard commands for SDOE current through release patch 1.5. Also included are all the new keyboard commands that have been reserved for user functions like opening and closing the canopy on the new Zero. The file includes a sharp two sided KEYBOARD COMMAND card updating the one that shipped with the SDOE. You can download the package at the follow address... http://www.fshangar.com/area51/key991116.zip Ronin IP: Logged |

Thanks for the feedback guys. I fly several sims and it sure helps to have the keyboard commands card available to help me remember which commands are for which sim!Further the card shipped that with SDOE is obsolete now with patch 1.5 and the new user generated commands. Ronin IP: Logged |

Great job Ronin. Talk about a useful thing to have. There was just one key combo that it seemed everyone else in the lobby but myself knew for a long time and I just recently found out about--and I can't find it on your list. It shrinks the window from full screen down to a smaller size so that you can do other things on your desktop while, for instance, waiting for someone to show up for a game. "Alt Enter". If this is so obvious or I somehow missed it on the list-just ignore this-and send me a virtual dope slap. Thanks for all the work on this Ronin.AQ IP: Logged |

ArthurQ-[Alt] [Enter], huh... I don't recall seeing that in the 'keyboard.inp'? Is this a MS WINDOWS level command?? I'll check it out and add it to the list for the next release. Thanks for the feedback!. Anyone else got anything? Ronin IP: Logged |

Ronin, Haven't got a clue about what kind of command this is. Might be a Windows command. Sure was nice to find out though. I could never figure out how guys could see the server listing while in the lobby or how they tuned in to Roger Wilco since all I had was a full screen of SDOE Lobby. Live and learn. Glad I wasn't the only one though. Misery sure does love company Happy Thanksgiving all! AQ IP: Logged |

I always use [alt] [tab] for going in and out of the game. And I haven't tried it yet but the downloading just finished. It must be great after all the positive feedback. Thanks Ronin.Cu, Poodle ------------------ Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Flying Poodle ! IP: Logged |

Thanks for the excellent package! I never did get around to updating my keyboard.inp file ! Can we change the "Feather Props" keys to be something that makes more sense? TS ------------------ ________________________ TS Aircombat

TS -Good question about changing the command for feathering to make more sense. Boy was I tempted! You could change alot of the commands to make more sense! But... 1) What do you suppose the odds are of folks around here agreeing on using the same new key assignments? Hahaha! Yeah right! 2) Its surpisingly hard to make new commands fit menomicly (sp?) with 170+ keys already taken! You get into a 'dominos' effect! 3) ...and finally what about compatability with future (knocking on wood) Parasoft Patch releases? Given the above, I decided to preserve the original key assignments that everyone has already learned and only add new keys that Parasoft hasn't grabbed. I took this approach to achieve the widest acceptance for this 'standard'. BTW - Thanks to Razor for all the new key assignments to support canopy, tailhook, etc! Ronin

Our future key management will be slightly different (more customizable from within the program). One thing I plan on doing is allowing full input profile selection, so if you guys come up with a mapping most people like, I'll be happy to include it with the future game. IP: Logged |

Is Alt-1 Alt-2 Alt-3 Alt-4 taken? Much easier to figure out how to feather #3 engine. TS IP: Logged |

MH-Thanks for the update on your future plans for handling of key commands. We'd be glad to provide you with some input on key command assignments. Do you have a list of any new functions that you may use?? Send 'em to me and I'll do three things. 1) Assign them to best fit menomic key assignments. 2) Adjust the current SDOE key assignments for best menomic fit for all commands. (I may regret that offer! {g}) 3) Post the results and see if we can get some feedback for you. If everyone seems to like the new command assignments I'll reissue the KEYBOARD COMMAND standard with those new key assignments (Of course minus the ones due in project x!). Best Regards, Ronin IP: Logged |

TS-No Alt 1-4 are not taken. We could use those to feather props 1-4. How do you propose to unfeather them?? This brings up a question that I've been wondering how everyone felt... (next message..) Ronin

All:Currently, many functions have a single key command that toggles the function on/off as well as a second key command for on and a third command for off. Question: Do we need three commands to handle one function??? Example: Landing gear Up/Down . . . . G Landing gear Up . . . Shift G Landing Gear Down . . . Ctrl G I use the toggles like "G" mapped to a button on my CH F16 Fighter Stick. Therefore, I love the toggle commands as they save on stick buttons. However, when I use the keyboard I like being able to turn a function on with one key and off with a second key. Frankly, since I use the programable stick I'm use it and not keyboard. If I had to vote for one or the other I'd choose the toggle command setup. If we were to reassign the key functions... do you guys feel like we need the three key control setup like the landing gear example above? Ronin IP: Logged |

Some people need the seperate up/down to make sure their programmable stick functions. For example if you had a toggle switch on your stick and you want up to be gear up and down to be gear down. TS
