To those who have gone before, to whom we owe what we have today, who had the courage to risk everything they had in a desperate attempt to create what they hoped would be the model for all free governments to follow - a toast. Raise your favorite beverage and join me in saluting a brave generation that fathered many brave future generations; whatever it has become today, good and bad, pales next to the courage it took to risk all in the effort.Salute! America's forefathers...may we never forget your sacrifices,

I for one am with you all the way. It seems that most people look at these holidays as just another excuse to get off of work, get drunk, and blow stuff up. Or to find some sale at the local Mall.
How many of us actually stopped to think what the 4th is really about.It is my hope America (such as it is) looks back to our Forefathers with pride and not with shame as some revisionist would have it. The way I see it, Proud is the only way to be. Its the greatist nation on earth!!

People need to do two things. Read the Ann
Landers column from either the 3d or the 4th
of July, I can't remember which. The column
was about the losses the original signers of
the Declaration of Independence suffered.The second is go see the movie "The Patriot"

Maaco, I just want to get this straight.Now, that doesn't mean you're necessarily against getting off work, getting drunk, and blowing stuff up, are you? Just that activities like that should not be the ONLY or MAIN focus of a 4th of July celebration, right? Mk10=225th=

Oh no, I wouldn't be in here if I were against tossing a few back.  I'll have a Scotch and water as a matter of fact.
And putting up with Clinton is more than I would ask of anyone Jerry.I was just thinking that it is sad how people go thru day to day life without any gratitude for those that got them here. You know my father says he gets tired of people wanting the good ole days back because he says they just were not that good, hehe. I guess what I would like is the best of both worlds. Modern times and old fashion values.
You see I am a hopeless romantic and I refuse to give up on this country. What I meant by "What have you done for your country" was that I would like to see people stop thinking they are owed a living and start contributing to society. This of course is aimed at the younger members of the population and is in no way aimed at our military members, or volunteers in help organizations past or present. Ah, well made Hawk! Cheers all! Hmmm...seems taxi won't come out here any more; anything with a roof that sits longer than 30 seconds gets a target painted on it, and longer than 3 minutes the target gets used. So, may I offer you a lift in my Spit? It's only a single seater, but tell ya what...hook your parachute harness to the landing gear, I'll fly low and slow and keep the gear down. Ready?Ok...taxi up, flaps down, third throttle...here we go...lifting..ok...half throttle, right trim, a tad left rudder, gear up, flaps u.......uh oh....uh, maaco? maaco? MAAAAAACOOOOOOO???????????? oh boy....sheesh, how much fuel have I got? Something tells me, when I lower the gear, I better be gone!!!!! Hope you all had a great, and safe, 4th!! And 5th, 6th, 7th...etc.!! And thank you all for the posts in answer to my toast! ------------------
