Could anyone tell me what prop tif the B-17's P-38's, and the Spits use? I like the no_strobe tiff and I've change out most of my other aircraft so far. I like the no_strobe because it doesn't play with ground textures when you look through the prop. The P-38 and B-17 I could live with but the Spits are terrible. I use D3D and the compaired to OpenGL there is a big difference with the props. The reason I use the renderer is that the terrains are more realistic looking. Any assistance is appreciated, thanks.FQ IP: Logged |

OOC, what do you mean by "plays with the terrain?"Maury IP: Logged |

The B-17 uses prop4.tif and you need to place it in your /commonTextures/ folder in the media dir.The P-38 uses the same Prop4.tif but it's in the P-38 texture dir. The Spit uses typhPropFast.tif in the typhoons texture dir. IP: Logged |

Wow, thank you Razer, I figured you would be the one that knows Maury, I don't know if you've tried D3D or not or even if it effects your graphics but if you could see this you would know why I want to change them. It doesn't do it in Glide but as I said I like the terrain in D3D better. It looks like a childs experiment with water colors, I don't know how else to explain it to you. If I could send you a screen (though a poor representation) of what I see maybe then you'll know. Thanks guys.FQ IP: Logged |

Razer, thanks for the good info and know that it has the desired effect. The B-17(s)and the P-38(s) are just what I wanted. The Spits however did not take the que, so to speak. I did what you said with the typhprop thing but no effect. I copied the file and placed it in the MkIX and that still didn't work. This is the file as I placed it TyphPropFast.tif in the Typh (tex) folder is this correct? Thanks for all your help and like Jerry+ said (we need you) I hope I don't seem to demanding with my questions but the more I get help the more I can help others, probably the way you feel, thanks.FQ Also, I got the file with the no_strobe at Tailslide's site is this the one you speak of at simfiles? ./aircraft/Typh/textures/typhPropFast.tifthis is where the spit (mkV, factory plane in SDOE) is looking for. IP: Logged |

Is the same prop used on the Spit IX ?I was flying that against Rends the other night, and I found the prop effect on that so distracting, I could hardly concentrate on getting shot down .... Haven't flown WW2 for a long while .... when did these things change? ------------------ The Pilot formerly known as W.T.G. IP: Logged |

The SpitIX is looking for ./aircraft/SpitIX/textures/PropFast.tif The thing about the SpitIX is when I was part of OPP and we were working on the spit we didn't know a lot about OP and textures and alphas. The fast prop for the spit was left 3 blade after release. I changed this when i worked on the PP back in 5.3 but I just now noticed the tif size is set to 32x32 which is really small and is going to cause a blurry texture. If you set this to 65x65 it should look find but if you want the no strobe then there is the link above to fix it. IP: Logged |

I do run D3CD, which is why I'm so interested. Yes, please send me an example. You've got me all curious! Maury
