First off, thanks for doing this. You're really helping us all out here. What we're looking for are: 1. obvious and glaring mistakes. 2. frame rates over the town. 3. anything wierd like popping or missing textures etc. 4. anything that Rendsberger wants to add. Please include your system specs with your comments. [This message has been edited by Diego Lozano (edited 01-01-2002).] IP: Logged |

Hey Diego, just so I know about any lag I might get on the net and I don't reboot thinking it's me lol, is the d/l on the ftp, or have you stored it somewhere else? I notice you've been tyding up the ftp a little aswell I'd love to test for you, but I realy can't right now, my system is now setup for Base Pack testing so I don't want to "infect" it with anything forgin to BP.IP: Logged |

Note to the testers: Please let AI do the job in your mission, because whe donīt want to test your skill here but to see if AI can handle it Make bombing runs on everything:targets, town, airfields and watch how AI make his job (take off-attack-landing)Please donīt post any pictures here, until whe did!!! Happy testing Rendsburger IP: Logged |

it's not a problem at all Diego you know I'd never mind, the only reason I asked is that if I get some slowdown I usualy just reboot, I'll know now just to make sure it's not the ftp in use IP: Logged |

Diego,If it's not to late I'd love to test out Tobruk for you. Not sure if you want my system specs here but I'll post them AMD Athlon 1.1ghz 256mb SDRAM 64mb GeForce2 GTS Santa Cruz Turtle beach Sound card P.S. Havn't talked to you in a while but I'm going to be practicing my terrain painting again soon, I was on vacation for a week, got food poisoning while on vacation and am just recovering from that now. But I do think I'm getting that terrain bug again lol ------------------ -Blacksheep IP: Logged |

Wow great work guys!! I just took a tour of the whole terrain and I'm very impressed! Here's some feedback: 1 x Fi-156 over Tobruk town, partly cloudy < 1000 feet: -Min = 30 fps -Max = 36 fps Just for comparision, slew camera in the middle of the sea: -With clouds and distant shore in view: 36 fps -Looking straight into the sea at point blank: 44 fps Fps for me over the town seems normal enough considering the amount of buildings there although I've only tested it with one plane so far. Even so, I can try reducing the FSAA detail level to increase fps. I've only found one bug with it so far and this was while driving through Tobruk town in a Jeep: - Some buildings in Tobruk town and some small areas of the concrete dock area don't perform collision detection and objects (the Jeep, tracers, etc) can pass right through them/it. I'm sure these are not glaring bugs but I thought I should list them down anyway. Apart from this, I've found no other bugs at all so far. Here's what caught my eye that I particularly liked: -Open entry areas in most fences of POW camps and HQ for vehicle access. -The good low-down detail level of the roads in Tobruk town and also on the rest of the terrain to a degree. -The dusty look of the airfields and the general look of the terrain. My system is: P3 1 ghz 256mb SDRAM (133mhz) GeForce 2 GTS running on ASUS v6.31c drivers (I know I know, but they give me the best balance between performance and reliability) with 1.5x1.5 OpenGL FSAA and 1x2 FSAA for D3D mode. Mipmap detail level set to "Blend". I run SDOE at 1024x768 32bit in OpenGL with FSAA. My average fps is around 38fps in OpenGL and around 68 in D3D with the above FSAA settings. Texture and object detail level sliders in SDOE set to maximum. I hope this helps, I'll keep testing and post back if I have anything important to report. Cheers, Harm IP: Logged |

First, congrats Diego and Rends - Terrific!!! The terrain was great, very detailed, and wonderfull for desert operations. -my computer PIII-750, 256Mb ram, HD 40Gb and a TNT2 32Mb.Well, the only place Iīve noted some FR surffer was over the industrial area in the city. The other areas goes very smooth. cheers, K-A ------------------ economic classroom IP: Logged |

i fixed the building bug but not the shipyard bug. That mean you cannot drive any longer through the buildings but there is still a small area on the shipyard where you fall into the water. I donīt know if this can be fixed too, because i tried the same way i fixed the buildings but this didnīt fix the shipyard problem. So be aware to drive to far on the shipyard.Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Just finished D/L-ing everything, but now as I'm trying to create a mission, I get the message : "Required file MissionsEditor/Tobruk/Tobruk.sm not found" and impossible to create any mission with Tobruk. This happens both with the MissionEditor.ppf shipped with tobruk and with my old one that I updated to include tobruk. Any idea please ? Concerning the testing of FPS, any plane (fighter) is ok ? is the P51 a good benchmark for that for instance ? I'll get 2 work as soon as I solved my problem. Also which bombers do you use to be sure the AI can take off (easy) and land (not easy for me to design a mission in which AI will land OK when returning to base). Tksalot SailorIP: Logged |

I wonder if it has something to do with whether you are using the beta patch or not? It works fine for me in 1.2.10, but when I try to use just the regular 1.5 patch, the terrain map doesn't show in the missions section, and when I go to fly the mission- there is no terrain- just open air. Does the regulalr patched game recognize a parfile as high as 30?Past that-- I am not having any problems-- I will post framerates from a mission I had with 3 Lancs and 3 B-17's later today when I am home IP: Logged |

A little more feedback, I have tested the AI bombing on the Tobruk airbase and air defense station and they bomb these targets ok, but when I try to make them bomb the HQ, their bombs miss. I'm going to keep testing whenever I get time and see if it's my mission making errors that's causing this or not... IP: Logged |

Jeeves,Harman, yes thatīs right that SDOEV1.5 didnīt recognice numbers higher then 20(?), so the patch is needed. For the rest of your responce i posted a thread in the TechForum because i didnīt know why this happened. thanks, Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Thanks VM, I was using the 1.5 Mission Editor (I had never used the one in the patch directory). Now Its all OK. And it really looks great I tested with 1 P51D, 1 B17G and 1 Halftrack. P51D : 22 to 23 FPS at airbase, 23 to 30 over Tobruk (low Alt, excellent speed impression due to the many buildings), 40+ FPS over desert. B17G : 17-18 FPS over desert and sea or sea shore, 18-20 over Tobruk Halftrack : 15 FPS in the desert, 17-20 in town. Noticed 2 problems : on the beach, part of the beach is water even if it looks like sand (be careful when you drive) and I fell in a hole while driving my Halftrack from Tobruk Airbase into town. It was near town, after the slope downhill when you arrive in town. Therefore all crews are forbidden to leave the airfield and go in town . I just fell in the hole, it was not water, just after that you see the town from inside out and you've lost the mission. My system is P2 400 Mhz, 128 Mo RAM, Vid card : ATI rage fury. I'll try some AI missions tomorrow SailorIP: Logged |
