I setup a mission to testing planes in combat and see how the AI handles the planes in combat. I have this mission setup with 2 B-26's coming in for a low level attack on an airfield and then I have 4 A-36s providing cover and when near the target they are jumped by 4 109F-trops. The a-36s drop the drop tanks then turn in for the 109s and engage while the B-26s strafe the field.
I have a lone P-51B standing by with drop tanks in cause I need to join in.
I was sitting in the B and watching the combat unfold and watching the A-36s do a pretty good job with the 109s. Oneof the B-26s hit a hangar and broke up and the other just turned for home (my base with the B) I was watching the A-36s (which by now was (2) 36's on (1) 109) and figured I'd she how the 26 was doing.
I switched back to the B to watch the 26 land in front of me. I went to an outside view to watch the 26 with the B in view.
The B-26 was coming in kind of fast and was lined up pretty good. about a 1/4 down the run the plane nosed over and hit hard loosing the nose wheel. the AI then rocked the plane back keeping the nose off the ground. it rolled like this for a few feet but then the nose lowered and when that gear stut touched the ground all hell broke loose.
The plane rocked to the right and when it did the wing bent when it hit the ground and the plane slid on the wing for about 50 ft when the wing broke and the plane starting tumbling. the other wing broke off and then the fuse broke in two. The whole time this is happening I'm watching all the parts head for my B which is sitting at the end of the runway.
All that the parts stopped in front of my plane but I had one fo the main wheels come bouncing down the runway and smack me with in the left wing braking off everything from the middle out. Luckly the A36s had dispatched the 109s by then and were heading home.
This was way cool! Now if I can just finish the A-36 to get you guys the B-26.
