Hey all, I'm trying to get these hi-res skins happening. I have SDOE installed and the 1.5 patch, but I'm initialising the game using the 1.5.2.10 patch that supports the skins. The skins are in the normal media folder where they usually should exist. When I run the game the aircraft look....normal. No hi-res stuff. Can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong, I'd like to be able to have screen shots like the one's that have been posted. I remember with fondness the hi res skins that Dan Waldrep did...they were..."Absolutely Gorgeous!!"Please don't replay by email, I'm having headaches with that and will changing address soon. I'm the same zippo that used to lurk around here and play online all those years ago. Lost my password after reformat...*sigh* Cheers, Zip ------------------ Better to be not at all than not be noble IP: Logged |

One more thing. Make sure that your graphics card will support HiRes textures. Someone had a list around here....IP: Logged |

Hi there and good to have you back Maybe Iīm totally out of lines and out in the fields here, but you said in your post like this:"The skins are in the normal media folder where they usually should exist." I was thinkin`, shouldn`t they be in Aircraft/textures-folder...Or is this thing different with Hi-Res?? Just curious?? TFF...Gone With The Wings... Hi Finn. Point taken, I should've been more specific. Textures folder in the aircraft folder which reside in the Media folder. I'm not using plane packs yet but do have the add on CD (thx Biggles!!), but CD Rom drive is bung at the moment....long story. Would the non use of nations and PP6.1 have much to do with this?Cheers, John ------------------ "Better to be not at all than not be noble" IP: Logged |

After re-reading your post, it sounds like you dont have the aircraft SM files that support HiRes. I think you can find the d/l at Simfiles. IP: Logged |

SM Files? Are they the actual hi res skins that you place in the textures folder as per any other texture, or is it something completely different but still required for hi res support?.Sorry for the basic questions, been out of the loop far too long. Chhers, ZipIP: Logged |

You have to change the details of the SM to tell it that the texture size is different. To use Hi-res textures, you need to do the following: 1) Download the 1.5.10 patch 2) Put a hi-res texture in the plans texture folder 3) Set the maximum texture size in the SDOE options to 512 or 1024 4) Change the SM so that the model knows it's texture is 512 or 1024 If you miss out any of the steps above, your etxture may not show up, or you may notice that it isn't hi-res! The game will re-size a texture to 256 if you miss out step 3 or step 4. Also, you have to have installed the WWW patch 1.5.9 or 1.5.10 to enable hi res texture support. ------------------ The Pilot formerly known as W.T.G. IP: Logged |

Hi Zippo (I've got an old one in brass the named sm files are the actual plane file that hold the info on how high res. textures it supports. Get the high res ones at simfiles & IF you like to change a low res plane into high res Uself, just search this sites techtalk there should be some info on how to (simply) open it in OpenPlaneStudio and change the res to for ex. 1024x1024 IP: Logged |

As Diego said for hi-res to work you need a graphics card which supports them plus Hi-res AC skin support 1+2 ;3.8mb /3.9mb downloads from Simfiles. These should be extracted to your media file with win zip (using folder names)Of course make sure you have FS patch 1.5.2.10. Then of course you need Hi-res skins also from Simfiles which go in your textures folders Sm files go in the aircrafts own folder. In sdoe change your options graphics to 1024 and Bobīs your uncle!or at least we hope so Good Luck!
