Those familiar with night missions in sdoe will know that town tiles aren't affected by darkness unless you apply the fix Rendsburger prepared some time ago, the same fix used in Fox and Rats.

(Disclaimer for those who want the full story before installing)

While it did mess up the trees for some people, Rendsburger identified the problem and flagged it at simfiles, but I've gone a step further and prepared a zip specifically for Bavaria - rather than the twenty to thirty files covering all terrains in sdoe, just unzip this one to your Fighter Squadron folder and the towns in Bavaria will show up properly. It contains only three .sm files, those affecting Bavaria. It has no files that will do things to your trees. It will not cause compatability problems, and if you would like to download the full fix from simfiles, there is no conflict as these files here are identical to those.

(end disclaimer)

Bottom line - unless you want radioactive grass in your night missions, unzip these three files to your FS directory and you're set. http://af.3dgw.com/temp/BavariaNightTownFix.zip

Also, the Panzer III default scheme is great for North Africa, but looks out of place in Bavaria. I have prepared a paintscheme that will work in Bavaria. I had a nice screenshot all prepared, but I can't find it now. It repaints the Panzer in that typical German blue-grey steel colour with red numbers on the side of the hull. Just a generic scheme, but for immersion's sake, I highly recommend it. Sand coloured tanks on neon grass at night in Bavaria is going to kill your immersion factor dead unless you do something about it.

Paintscheme (two flavours, high and low res):
