Mhhhm another question here:
I'm reading alot of books concering the civil war in Spain.
Now a new idea comes into my mind....what if I would change the names on the Rhineland map and create a new terrain (let's say 'Spain') ...plus a couple of skins. What you guy's think about this?

Please let me know cause I've already a couple of skins sitting on my HD for this.

cheers

Guys, someone MUST make an ARADO Ar 68 Bi-plane or a HE-51!! Especially the latter, I have designed a series of missions on the formative years of the Luftwaffe. I would love to have the HE-51. As I recall those planes played a crucial part in the early part of the Spanish Civil War.

Before you get too excited over using the He-111H (the one that was in the BoB and onwards), it was the He-111B-1 and later that had the glazed nose and stepped windscreen that faught in the Spanish Civil War. The last stepped windscreen version was the He-111G serie if I recall. I was amazed to see that myself.

You need to rename some of the internal data in the 'spain' fake map or SDOE will get confuseded.

That all looks very good GT. The only thing I would change is the name of the "Edificio para la electricidad" to Planta de electricidad. You know, I'm not even sure that Planta isnt just a slang word we use here in California...kinda like marketa for market

Hey, BTW, are you going to retexture it too? That would be sweet.

Im very happy with this proyect.

I agree with Sturm, gotta have a He 51, plus the the early He 111, longer fuse, higher fin etc, plus I always wanted to put that Legion Condor 'Scottie' Skin on one, maybe bottom of the wish list, but how has the 111 been missed out. ;(

Sorry guy's I don't have the time to do a re-texture of the whole terrain...so this will be just a 'fake' terrain. Bu if someone is willing to do this...well you're welcome!

Other things:
Aircraft that saw action and will be available as separate airplanes on my web-site in the near future:
- Do17
- Arado AR95W (a new one )..with floats
- Storch
- BF109E
- Ju87 (I know we have the G model..but anyway)
- I16
- I15 (a new one ...but not shure...still lot to do)
- Fiat CR42 (the italian-fake)
- Fiat Br20 (the italian-fake)
- Fiat G.50 (the italian-fake)

...and missions tons of missions and of course every mentioned plane will be separate (so no troubles with your original ones) with an apropriate skin
I know that at the moment we're not planing to include spain in nations3 (werner *wink*wink*), so we gona have primary Italian, German and Russian pilots fighting against each other.

PS: Hey Hentzau ....yes I've that game too ...it's rubish from the simers point of view, but the whole campaign atmosphere is still verry nice ...at least.

gona post a couple of images asap.

...please remember FS:SDOE is a nice hobby, but it has to make fun primary and so the whole 'Civil-War-Campaign' will be based upon FUN.

cheers

No sorry gustavo I don't have the time
I know that you're involved with the Tobruk terrain but maybe you've a little bit of time for Spain?? (just kidding).
Just take a look to all of those planes for Spain (Arado, Ju, Do17, etc. etc.) they all need at least a new skin.....mhhhhm so the time for a new terrain is limited here...

any other takers??

...sorry this idea (Spanish Civil War) doesn't let me sleep. I've even received a couple of e-mails (..from Spain ). Statings where from:
1. 'ok we can live with a Rhineland fake'
2. 'ohhh common please create a new terrain for spain otherwise its not interesting enough...'

At the moment I'm skinning the planes and onestly this looks like enough work for me at the moment. Creating a completely new terrain is beyond my know-how, that's for shure! So my question here can you guys life without a new terrain? If so ...well that's ok for me...if not, well we need a terrain-guru here

Please let me know folks, cause this is going to get a big job for a lonely husband

Opinions, ideas, etc. are welcome!!!

cheers

GT, here's my two cents...I was born in Sevilla and was raised in Madrid, till 1979 when I moved to the states. My grandmother, who lived through the Spanish Civil War as a little girl, has amazing war stories. She was one of many who suffered because, from village to village, the sides changed many times. There was much retaliation. SO...this project would mean much to me!! We spaniards are very proud of our country,(like those who are proud of England, Germany, etc.), and I really think you should not use rhineland as a fake terrain, unless absolutely necessary. Spain is a unique country. Some parts are very dry with Cork trees and Olive trees, some parts barren and rocky, some parts, like Ireland! The scenery changes drastically for such a small space. -Joe', para ver los torremolinos de La Mancha en 'este juego!!!!!!- Their should be a Spanish terrain. As a spaniard, I tell you that it would be so awesome!! I miss my country soooo much. Please, lets be patient!!!

Sturmspieler,
let me tell you something about creating terrains.
First, creating isn´t that easy and i know only 3 guys who can do it at the moment and thats WTG,Nat and me. Next, it´s not a one man show, you need at least 2people, one for the technical part and one for the creative part It´s great if you have a painterguru like Diego involved
Creating terrains is sometimes a very stupid work and i guess not so interesting for the most as planebuilding is. It takes also a long time before something is finished.
So be happy if someone want to create Spain out of the rhineland terrain. Maybe you find someone to paint a new texture and create more spain looking buildings. I know that there is a windmill for the Somme terrain as example wich can be used in Spain also.
I would be lucky if someone want to be involved in terraincreating too.
