When I download the demo of IL-2, I had to install DX 8. Starting from that moment, it began to work every worse time SDOE.
After reinstalling several times SDOE, I continued having the same problem.
Finally I reinstalled Windows Me, and DX 7.1; and SDOE began to work very again.

¿Somebody but tube this problem?

Cuando yo transferí el demo de IL-2, tuve que instalar DX 8. A partir de ese momento, comenzó a funcionar cada vez peor SDOE.
Luego de reinstalar varias veces SDOE, yo seguía teniendo el mismo problema.
Finalmente reinstalé Windows Me, y DX 7.1; y SDOE comenzó a funcionar bien nuevamente.

¿Alguien mas tubo este problema?

Gustavo's asking if anyone else has had (and solved) this problem, namely SDOE not working with Direct X8 drivers. I'm eagerly awating the answer myself, as it looks like I'll soon have no choice but to give up DX7 if I want to run any of the new software like IL2.

I run directx8 and i have no problems with SDOE.
Maybe it´s the videoboard driver that makes trouble.
Search the forum, whe talked about this a short while ago.

Gustavo, what kind of hardware do you have (espcially graphics card) and what version of DX8 did you try to install? 8.0?

After installing DX8 to test a new game, I found out that SDOE was completely screwed (video problems, the 2D drivers were screwed up and this caused 3D to show horrible colours, impossible to play). After several installs I solved the problem by updating to the latest video drivers... BTW I have an ATI rage fury video (and ATI drivers are/were very touchy).

I went through this recently too. However I can't remember if I had the problem only on Win98, or after I moved to 2k (which I highly recommend). Either way I now have 8 on 2k and it's working perfectly.

I have a Bansed Blaster of 16 MB, 192 RAM and Celeron 366 Mhz.
Now I installed DX 8.0 again, and it seems that it works well. The only problem, is that if I go out of SDOE with the button "QUIT", in pointer he/she works of to jumps and I should turn off the PC; then, I should go out of SDOE with Ctrl+Alt+Del "to conclude program", and then there is not problem.

It seems that finally the problem was generating it the Norton antivirus . Now that I removed it of my PC, it has improved the yield of the whole computer very much.
¿Will it be indispensable to have the antivirus?

Because of this type of problem, I have two HDs.

When I want to go on the internet with Windows, I turn on the HD (from BIOS) which is installed with Antivirus + Software Firewall.

When I want to play SDOE (etc.) I turn on the Game HD, and turn off the "Internet" HD, from BIOS.

This also helps to segrate contamination from one HD to another.

I use my Swap File HD to exchange files bewteen these two HDs.

You should turn off Antivirus software before playing high-performance games.

I always Run SDOE with out nothing going..
what i means is I got the first version
of enditall and this shuts everything off except what needs to run the Computer...
it really Helps and SDOE Runs Really well
and fast ..
I use win98SE ,500 mghz Cpu AMD ,384 megs of ram , and I'm a Geforce 2 MX Pilot..
But really Gustavo I have only had Norton
antivirus a Short time and even on the MAC
G-4 The App just slows the system down over time This is from my dealings with it.
I use AVG and it's really Good and No Virus
on my system...
But if you use Enditall? Use there First Version...The second one with the Skull and Crossbones Icon? WILL END IT ALL ....I know!
If you can't find this little Snappy APP?
let me know and i'll send it to you
and your He- 219 Blow past you...
