hello guys,I am very pleased with SDOE but I was wondering what the future of SDOE will be since the original creators are no longer supporting it and as new WO-II sims (e.g. IL-Sturmovik) are hitting the market and will probably be continued in future releases. Personally I find lack of detailed cities (to bomb) a drawback in SDOE. I don't know whether this question was raised long ago. Regards, Kristian IP: Logged |

There are a group of people working to improve the code of the basic game, and to bring in some new features. Things like detailed cities to bomb would be great .... but I fear beyond the limits of what the code can be made to do. In fact, IL2 doesn't have them. At the end of the day, SDOE is 3 years old .... and still good as a game. It has got steadily better, as the community is still supporting it and coming up with new ideas and ways of exploiting what it CAN do, so I won't say these things will never happen...... coz someone just might prove me wrong ------------------ The Cadet formerly known as W.T.G. My two cents...there are so many thousands of things that need improvement in SDOE, (not that is'nt the most amazing game now!), creating cities to bomb just makes me flinch. The destruction of CIVILIAN targets was a horrible fact in WW2. Believe me, I would love to see a London, or a Stalingrad,(in the works I believe?), but not to bomb them. I know this sounds like a lecture, and you can do what ever you want with the game when these larger cities are created,(they will be at some point), BUT...lets not create the cities for the purpose of bombing them. I guess I'll get tons of heat for these remarks, but...man....its very hard for me to stomach anymore civilians dying. Sturm Spieler

we could make models of guys that fly apart when bombs explode near them, Frag City! LOLI'm all for being able to set up real bombing missions, the bombing of cities happend and I dont think it's anything we shouldn't be able to do due to some kind of "ethics", but there aren't maney games out there that can actualy handle cities and still run at more than a slide show, if it can be done in SDOE remains to be seen, but no, it wouldn't be easy. Sturm, you're entitled to your opinion, as are we all, no reason to slam you for it IP: Logged |

Is bombing any of the dozen or so towns in SDOE any worse? Hmm, maybe there's a market for a "Chamberlain '38" sim after all. WM ------------------ Abbeville Field: Dedicated to the SDOE Experience. IP: Logged |

I think the next installment of Combat Flight Simulator will have very detailed cities to bomb. The cities in the new FS2002 are fantastic and this should cary over into the next CFS3. Paul IP: Logged |

Hi Guys,I like SDOE more than IL2. I Like SDOE as a flight sim and also the ground packs from Harm. There you "simulate" a combat between "soldiers". The bombing missions are to destroy tactical objects as airfields, bridges, dams or industrial buildings BUT NOT CIVILIAN CITIES. I am livin in a city which was destroyed in WW2 I do not like to do this in a sim. Good guys are working to keep the game on a high and updated level and as far as I know they work on things of what I can stand behind. Please keep going on this way. Steffen

Thanks, Nat you are a gentlemen and an officer. Yeah....I know, believe me....I am in no way headstrong in my opinion...I certainly respect yours, I was musing more than anything. A book by Kurt Vonnegut called Slaughterhouse Five, really affected me when I was young, ( parts of the book depict the firebombing of Dresden by the allies) and every time I think of "Civilian Targets" I think of that book, and that was a BOOK, not reality. Funny how realistic this game can be, (and how much I immerse myself in it at times), that it can bring up feelings like I have. So anyways, just friendly conversation,....I love this game and everybody involved!! Respectfully 7./JG3_Sturm Spieler
