Dance Pilot	posted 10-31- 05:53 PM If anyone is interested I have done a mod of the Harrier, it will actually hover, fly backwards or sideways, with a little practice! VTOL a lot easier now Also include fictional loadout for laughs. Dance Pilot	posted 11-01- 06:02 PM Yes Biggles it works with patch 1.5.2.9, and yes, if you were lucky you could get the original to hover, but how long would it stay there?, bit like balancing a marble on a pin. All credits go to Hawk, the model is special, otherwise i wouldna bothered with it at all. But in my view, this one's a little more user friendly, and as I say it's just for fun. Oh and one thing I missed from the read me is if you want the fictional load out to work you need to have the Mav and Paveway installed in your weapons folder. anyway for better or worse it's on it's way Biggles. Dance Pilot	posted 11-02- 03:43 PM Biggles the anwers to your questions are in the posts above, as I explained I tried to send it to you, but it got sent back as too large, not my problem as I said it was a 2.4 Meg zip. I then tried to send it to Hawk, to send on to you as well, but he couldn't open the zip, must have got corrupted in sending as it was fine this end. So have stripped all sounds and textures and got it to 200kb so I'll try sending it to you again. IP: Logged

I still have it. Let me know and I'll send it to Biggles to include in the pack. I really didn't see what was wrong with my version of the Harrier. It was tricky to fly but it felt pretty good to me overall. Kinda heavy feel to it. Also, what did you change specifically on the model, to make it hover better? I had it pretty well balanced and in reality, flying one of these jets or a helicopter is supposed to be like balancing on the head of a pin. I have some helicopter stick time, and that's how it is. Dance Pilot	posted 11-03- 06:12 AM Yeh I wish you'd told me about the file size limitations, BEFORE I sent it to you the first time Biggles Yes I have got ICQ I will try a file transfer. So you DID manage to open it Hawk? Had no idea about the skin Hawk must have missed that somewhere along the line. I changed it because as you know the harrier has control jets on it so that when you are flying at low speed thay take over the control from the normal flight controls which don't work to well without a certain wind velocity flowing over them. I modified it by mounting an engine on and object that tilts as before, but in addition it swivels about it's own axis a few degrees so it's capable of correcting the attitude of the plane in the hover. This swivel is directly linked to the yoke, so for instance if as you take off the plane starts to tip over in any direction you push the stick in the opposite direction and it will correct it. It is still tricky to do, so it does not detract from the challenge, and as you know the harrier also had 4 nozzles providing a slightly more stable table leg effect than was the case with the version of the harrier I first downloaded which uses 2 tilting engines to achieve the effect, and hence was more unstable. Lastly as I said once already I did this as a mod for myself not for Kudos, I wish I'd never bloody mentioned it at all now. Oh and before I forget I didn't say anything was WRONG with your model, I just liked the feel of control my mod gave to ME, it may sound picky as I couldn't even begin to construct such a model as yet, I am only eperienced with OPS and am only just starting out with 3D Max but I have flown real aircraft and have been using flight sims since the 80's so I am not blowing smoke.
