Hello, just want to show you some picture, which was possible only while a lot of artists from the SDOE guys are do development and research to bring this wonderful game close to reality. First you see, when a bullets hit the aileron from the newest Corsair from Jedi. Second, the bullets hit the cockpit and the pilot. The canopy flew away a the pilot hangs in his belts. Thanks to all who are working on this game. Steffen [This message has been edited by Steffen (edited 10-19-2001).] IP: Logged |

Totally in accordance with you Steffen. Also, SDOE, has characteristic that will be very difficult of overcoming, for example: The padlock view of IL-2 I don't like it; doesn't give the location neither the sensation of reality that gives SDOE. Also, here you can pass to the booth of other airplanes, and to have a good time appreciating the game from another angle....... it sews that one cannot make with the sim of the Soviet airplane. The view of padlock of the, with those arrows and those clocks flying in the screen................ it is not very real that say SDOE won't be overcome so easily ------------------ I./JG 27 Alle Messerschmitt bf109 IP: Logged |

Pilots? What don't you like about him? Pilots aren't too hard to work with. Suggestions? New suit? New shape? New feature? What's your pleasure? ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Nice to hear that you are working on pilots Nat.I tidied up the skin on the MIG3 (it was a bit small and showing blue arround the edges) but it is still missing it's pilot... is there a way to sit Jedi's pilot in it's place Of course you know I am kidding BTW hope your job hunt turns out for the best, I know the feeling... Usually the "missing pilot syndrome" is because the pilot file reference in the plane's .sm file is not "pointing" to an existing pilot figure in the "pilot" folder. If you've downloaded all the "online standard" stuff and then download a "custom" plane, that plane's pilot may or may not be included in the download (I always include a plane-specific pilot) and so the .sm may be looking for a pilot that doesn't exist. Open the "pilot" folder (under media) and see if there are any pilots in there. Then, using OPS, check the airplane .sm file to see what the "name" of the pilot figure is, and where he's supposed to be (probably the pilot folder). If you have a pilot in the pilot folder, copy that file and rename it to the name of the "missing" pilot. Now your plane's .sm should "see" the pilot figure. If there are NO pilots in your pilot folder, you have a problem. This means that you ONLY have planepack pilots, and they're all "submerged" in a parfile. You can extract the files from the parfile and then do the copy/paste/rename thing, or you can change the file reference in the aircraft's .sm file to be the same as the reference in one of the planepack planes. This may or may not cause an online mismatch... If you have the Corsair beta, there IS a pilot in your "pilot" folder, so you can do the copy/paste thing, but of course then you'll have a "Navy" pilot in your plane

Thanks Jedi! that did the trick. I went in the SM file with my hex editor to get the info. OPS is way over my head abd tends to crash my PC.Your suggestion did work and I tried 2 pilots. It answered the question of it's absnece. It seems it is not located where it should be and is better missing for now. It leaves me with three choices. Leave the pilot out and wait for the fixed version, try my hand at building planes or see if I can "convince" Nat to fix it . I do love a game with lots of options... BTW the Corsair is a big seller on the quality of SDOE when I show it off even it brings out the fact that I can't realy fly a plane IP: Logged |

The problem is framerate, WA, 20? Actually the problem with SDOE is mostly organiziation (or lack there of) and not enough people. We still need a solid plane pack and patch, and some people online 24/7 About IL-2 you can turn that stuff off. And I love the way you can't see icons anywhere, they dissapeer behind your wings and canopy parts and such. And when ever I checked people were playing the demo multiplay. That does look really sweet though, I think he just needs a new high res skin so he blends in with the plane better. I wouldn't waste too many more polys on him.
