S! all
Newbie to SDOE here wanting help on all things
(BTW its me 'madaboutsims' from simhq)
Okie dokie, i am intrested in WW2 rather than ww1.
Now after reading about patches here i am all confused so if someone can help please , i have 1.5 but there are loads of beta patches right?
How do you target in this sim? i am finding it really hard to dogfight, love manning the tail of a B-17 "Fw190s 6'oclock" not no more BOOOOOM!

mmmmmmmmm what else, ah yes the mission editor how do i get planes to start in the air?
i can get a flight of b-17s to start in the air but the Fw190s i set as starting at 18000ft are just sitting on the grass

S! thanks for any help 'Mad'

OK...lets see...first of all-- welcome

1.5 is vital and you need it The beta patches are optional, but seem to be used online quite a bit-- try to contact my good buddy Karaya2 for more details on online play. Rends and Pye and a few others are also frequent online players for WWII.

Target is just a matter of lining up a shot The gunsights are not gyroscopic-- so when you are at a difficult angle, you will have to lead your target a bit....hard to just tell and teach....it is much better to show you online-- I learned from a great guy named Shadow 2 years ago-- he had my cockpit in view and was telling me what I was doing wrong, etc. But if you are primarily offline, use the games scramble missions as they are pretty good practice missions

For the mission editor, there is a tab next to the properties tab (can't remember where exactly as I am at work)-- I think it is the Waypoint tab-- in there, you can set up your waypoints and there is also a section that lets you start on an airfield or set an altitude there. Check your 190's....if they have an airfield set as a start point, then that is where they will be regardless. Uncheck the airfield in the editor, and you will start at your set altitude.

Sparky had done a mission-making tutorial, but I am not sure what became of it. Otherwise, just keep asking, and someone here will always be happy to help

Welcome Mad123, You've already been given all the usefull advice and links for a good start. You'll usually find some pilots on-line on friday and saturday nights (european time as far as I know) on server california12. We use Patch 1.5.2.9 and pilots using 1.5 do not see pilots using 1.5.2.9 in the lobby so it is highly advisable to get the latest patch to play on-line. (and PP6.0 and 6.1).
Any question, don't hesitate to ask here.
CU soon

Hi Mad & Welcome..

As far as online compatability goes you'll need the following setup until the Base Pack & various modules are released.

The order of install should be:
FS CD, Patch 1.5, (fly the game now)then add, Nations2, Plane Pack 6.0, Plane Pack 6.1 and finally, Patch 1.5.2.9. If you require any help in setting up PP6.1 and Patch 1.5.2.9 I would be happy to talk you through it, possible on Roger Wilco (RW). We can hook up on my IP to do it, takes about 15 minutes to do.. If you need any help drop me a line at tone_lacey39@hotmail.com or post here and we can get you sorted out

A lot of online players also have the optional Bavaria Terrain installed and Ground Pack2. Other recently released terrains like Smolensk and Pacific are also used online but nowhere nearly as much as the WONDERFUL Bavaria Terrain. IMHO it is a 'Must Have'!

One of the best times to meet other players online is from 21:30 hours GMT onwards on a Friday or Saturday.

Hope this helps.

So Jeeves, when ARE we gonna see you online again? Looking out for ya Buddy..

Heya Kar....

Well--

Put the barn framework up last week, the fence posts in this week......next week we have to have the actual barn-raising, and then string the fence wire and we can get the horses over here.

I won't even mention getting firewood for the winter LOL

Do you still play on weeknights? Weekends are terrible for me-- especially the usual squad time-- Saturdays and Sundays are work outside around the house days But weeknights might be doable real soon

Hello Mad,

first of all, welcome to the community.
If you get a red screen, means 2 things:
- to high positive g forces during dogfights
- or in your case, pilot got wings and is on his way to heaven without his aircraft ;-)
Be careful and check your six.

Actually it's the negative g's that cause the redout. Positive g's will cause a blackout.
