Hi all,

I thought I would start this post to let the community know work is still continuing.

I will start with the P51D and add other planes as time permits, although work has been done on most of the others as well.

P51D:
The sm file is pretty much set. I have added the tail bullets holes to accomodate the addition of the 3D tail. The engine, wing, guns, and landing gear dm now work properly. The tail gear can be broken now if you land too hard.

Testing the changes is quite time consuming but it is very fun as well.

Can I just say adding bullet holes in OPS is a very, very difficult thing to do, but once you get it right, it is more than worth the effort! We all have to thank Raider for the original bullet patterns on her.

Thats it for now.

Hi guys,

Thanks! I will put up the rest of the status as soon as possible. So much has been done so I will try to get the info posted so you can come along with me for the ride. . Testing...yes there will have to be lots of that. I hope that will start very soon.

As this is my Birthday weekend, I am taking some time to be with my family, but I will get in some time on the BP I am sure.

10/31/2001 Status:
All USA fighters now have combat damageable gear, combat damage to cause gun jams, wheel damage on hard landings, and the gunner positions on the b17g can now also be disabled for more realism.

I will ad more updates soon.

can we redo the bullet holes? It looks like someone shot the plane with a BB gun.

Enlarge the polys for the holes and used a slightly bigger tifs and let be do some new holes. Also rotate the holes so they aren't all the same way to simulate a better damage effect. Bam, you have bullet damage that looks like CFS2.

Sounds great Razer, but I don't know how to do any of it. If you do maybe the bullet holes can be fixed on the p51 at a later date and at the same time create bullet holes for all sdoe planes. (huge project there but it would be great.

Email me with any ideas you have about this.

More power to ya!

Can you give us some idea of the things tweaked? Hi-res skins? Fixed bodyPts? updated damage models? LOD tweaking? DOF tweaking? FM tweaking?

Thanks for all your super hard work!

Hi guys,

Thanks. FYI most of what I am doing is dm related. ie. gunner positions can now be disabled on the b17g, all wheels can be damaged by direct fire if they are exposed. The wheels will also break off if you land too hard. Gun jams on all planes, modified - improved- simplified engine dm code. With this simplification it is my hope no more misterous random ctd occur offline like they used to.

All planes set to allow for 1024 x 1024 skins.
