Hi Mace, hope you don't mind me askin' , but
I'm having some trouble using the Sharnhorst turret as a cat launcher. Got crane launch no pobs, but I see your Cam launch huricane needs some involved work, some of the stuff on previous water landers is non-essential from experiment. Is this the same for Cam launchers? I really need to know the essentials, I'm a learner lol. Could it be because the turet has a rotational DOF? Any help appeciated, here's the suck up, godamn smart a** thinking up float planes in the first place

Dance, good to see your'e getting into the insteresting world of open plane!

In order for the plane to start on the ship you first need a starting plate. The Mogami / CAM ship have these, so just cut / paste.

To postion the plane on this invisible starting plate you need the edit the mission file using notepad, write, etc and edit the co-ordinates so the plane is over this plate when the mission starts. This involves some trail 'n' error.

To achieve a launch from a ship you will need to incorporate a hidden engine that provides a lot of thrust at the start of the take off run. If you look at the seafire in OPS you will see it has this feature. Again just cut /paste 'trigger' foil which shuts down the hidden engine after a certain speed is reached, prop / tailweight and hidden engine.

I'll hopefully be finished the Ju-52 floatplane in a week or so, so if you're still experimenting, e-mail me the .sm files

cheers mace:

Much appreciated Mace, I've already discovered 'patience' in finding co-ords for the crane launce I've done for the Arado...ouch (GT you tested it yet?) will do a bit of reverse engineering on your cam ship to check out these plates.Think I got the engine boost, by disecting your wonderful Sea-Huricane! If I get stuck I'll certainly take you up on that offer of help. I don't know if I'll ever get to build a plane from scratch, still trying to get hold of 3D modeling prog that I can afford lol. But Ops is still good enough for creating these little bits of magic.
