Level Bomming in SDOE is a complete mystery to me, i usualy have to leave it upto the AI to actualy hit anything. So heres a few questions that i have.

The bombsight.

Is it a fixed sight? It looks like it to me, and if so for what speed and altitude?

The AI

I have noticed that when i make a mission and i have several Lancasters/Ju88s/B17s in a formation heading to a target. Sometimes only the lead aeroplane releases its bombs. The others just open and close thier doors over the bomb run. Is there any way to stop this happening at the mission creation level? or is it just a bug.

OK thanks ,any help would be appreciated.

OK....here goes....

In answer to the first question...it is a fixed sight in the sense that you can't adjust it other than zooming in and out of the view...this is not a working bombsight like B-17II-- your best bet is to find a zoom distance you feel most comfortable at and just practice until you get a feel for where the bombs drop for whatever line demarcation on the meter. I usually zoom out to the next to the last distance and have become pretty good--just keep your zoom distance constant and practice

#2....Unfortunately-- it is a bug of sorts. Sometimes they all drop....but usually it is only one. I think it is in the code-- so not alterable...but I am not 100% sure

Funny you should ask!! Nat and I were trying to figure that out the other night-- none of the bombs drop vertically actually LOL He was playing with it for a few hours the other night and I was supposed to e-mail Raider about it, but forgot. So until I get home to do it, maybe Raider if you are reading-- you could figure out why that is?

MkB,
I have an old "Bombing Guide" for SDOE, written long time ago by By Joe N. Woresly, collaborated with Dennis "Shadow" Greene, think it was on the first forum 2 1/2 years ago.
Mail me at fmailhos@noos.fr if you want it (it's a word document, not too large).

Jeeves, the Mk82's when dropped from 10k@200mph will fall nose down, but it does take a while for them to reach a nose down attitude, I'm still working with this to try and carry it across to the new bombs we've made, but yes hopefully Raider can check this out aswell.

MkB: for online play you need:

PP6.1
Patch 1.5 and patch x.9 (so you can join either new patch or old patch games)
Nations V2

I "believe" thats all you need, but I'm sure others will correct this if wrong

MkB,

A group of about 6 - 12 of us are flying regularly online from about 21:30 GMT onwards on most Friday & Saturday nights.

At the above times most of us are using the following setup:
FS CD, Patch 1.5, Nations2, PP6.0, PP6.1 & Patch 1.5.2.9. If you need any help in setting up PP6.1 and Patch 1.5.2.9 just let me know and I'll see if I can help you.

Most of us are also using the New Bavaria Terrain when we fly SDOE WWII online. It is quite a remarkable piece of work IMO and a "must have", though not essential for online play

There are also a few guys flying SDOE WW1 at the above times too.

Hope this helps..

Ok then, as soon as i get back too uni, i will see you online, is it on the activistion UK server?

I already have the bavaria terain and i agree i think its stunning too. I have been into FS for quite while and have most of the addons and patches, so there ought to be nothing to catch me out.

Ta lads, see you on,line soon then.
