Hey I remember doing this before! The second version of the Ground Pack is here guys, been a short while coming. Whole bunch of new stuff in there now...lots of improvements..I'm hoping it's better than the previous one. I'm quite nervous as to how it will perform, I did a closed beta of it by myself...and tested it on two systems. I hope it goes well! This one is "optimized" for patch 1.5.2.9. Meaning if you use .9, you'll see many improvements over using it with 1.5. I don't want to re-write the readme here again, so have a read of it when you get the pack. No scratch that, make SURE you read the readme! Important info contained within... This pack comes as a PAR file (finally!) and this will make it online compatible and yes this pack is also stand-alone meaning you could in theory install a new SDOE installation, put on the patch and use this pack no probs. Only you won't have access to the French and Russian vehicles, Nations will take care of that, but you won't need any planepacks or other "modules" to get this pack working. 20 vehicles, lots of variants of existing models, armor, mortar carriers, halftracks, civvie vehicles, rocket carriers, aa vehicles plus some great new static objects to try out but unfortunately no Sherman still. Believe me I'm still kicking myself because I couldn't add the Sherman tank yet and my apologies to everyone who was looking forward to it, I know I said at the beginning of GP2 development that I'd include several Shermans. Now the allies still have only one measly tank...I'm sorry. GP3 for sure... Heaps of info left to say, all in the readme as I said before, many people to thank also. ----------------------------------- Click here for download information. ----------------------------------- I haven't had any success in uploading it as a single file, so I thought I should at least send it up there in parts for now because it wouldn't have been fair to keep you guys waiting any longer. Hopefully I can upload it as a whole file too. Have fun! Cheers [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 09-20-2001).] IP: Logged |

Thanks, Vmartini, at this point unfortunately there is no chance. Simfiles FTP is working again now, but it still uploads way too slow (~0.6kb/sec) and eventually times out. Until I can find another server to upload it to or simfiles somehow speeds up, GP2 will have to stay as it is in 6 pieces. Nevertheless I'm just glad I got it up there pieces or not. IP: Logged |

Harman, once I get my system back up, I'll put it on my FTP as a single download, but it's best to have it on simfiles aswell since my FTP is my home PC and does have downtime (like now)IP: Logged |

Any chance of there being a few CMP vehicles in the next one? Um, that'd be Canadian Military Pattern vehicles. There were a great number of them used by many countries during WW 2. IP: Logged |

Pye is there any problem with the pack joining/downloading? Or is it just your config? Because Vugel is having some invalid file troubles...Thanks Nat!! I don't know why it's uploading slow for me, GP1 was no problem for me. Anyway, thanks for doing that. Sunray, sure there's a chance. I have another add-on "expansion pack" to the GP2 in the works right now but I can't say too much. [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 09-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

They were download problems at my End, I'll just see others responses then try again when it's confirmed 100 percent, I've got 56k and a terribly un reliable telco. IP: Logged |

Brilliant work Harman! I look forward to trying them online. I took the Kubel out for a spin on that night mission with the lamps - how can I get the town tile to go dark? Werner ------------------ Abbeville Field: Dedicated to the SDOE Experience. IP: Logged |

Thanks Werner. Me too! To fix the town tile, you'll need to open the town.sm file in OPS and tick the "shading" option in the texture properties for the town's texture tile. Rends found this solution out btw. Because it is such a tedious process and adding an updated town.sm to the GP is out of the question imo, my adding lights was a somewhat half ar*ed solution to the problem. IP: Logged |

Vagner - you need to do the following to get the .exe ready before installing:1. Download all components 2. Unzip all components to a holding directory 3. Download and unzip HJSplit then run the .exe 4. Follow the instructions, its a 2 or three 3 step process, really straight forward. Before firing up the exe, uninstall GP1 (there is an uninstall.exe provided if you dig around in your FS directory). I have deliberately avoided using HJSplit in the past because I found it to be a nuisance, but I can't believe how slick the process was. I'm glad I read the entire readme though to discover that I should uninstall GP1 first, but that's ok I don't think its a big deal if you didn't. Thanks Rends & Harman! Does Rends' file affect online compatability? Werner ------------------ Abbeville Field: Dedicated to the SDOE Experience. [This message has been edited by Werner Molders (edited 09-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

Vagner,I'm not sure whether it could be Winzip 8 causing the problem...I had trouble executing the 1.5 patch with Winzip 8 so I went back to Winzip 7. This is obvious I know, but you did join the unzipped *.00* files first with HJ Split ? There should only be one .exe that totals around 20mb. To create this exe, unzip the parts you downloaded to the same folder. Run HJ Split and click "Join". Locate the first part (ending in .001) and click "Start". The parts will be welded together and you should then have a 20mb GP2.exe file created. Run that and it will install. Similar information here. Oops! Sorry I didn't see your reply to Vagner Werner. And re: Rend's file, I think it will affect online compatibility but I'm not 100% sure... [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 09-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

Cheers guys,Just one important bit of info regarding the .9 patch. To get the most realism out of tank battles/gunnery, I suggest turning off the "Use Bullet Penetration" option because this (imo) reduces the power of the tank rounds and makes them fly right through the tanks too. Just FYI... IP: Logged |
