I cannot believe it. This can have unthinkable consequences. My solidarity with the population of united states. Here in the Argentina an attack is feared in some Israeli center. No lo puedo creer. Esto puede tener consecuencias impensables. Mi solidaridad con la población de estados unidos. Aquí en la Argentina se teme un atentado en algún centro israelí. ArgonV,I don't think an attack of this scale can escape the careful search this country will put on to find out who did it. While it won't help those who have already lost their lives, I believe we will find out who did it, and whatever we do to them, and whatever the nations of the world do in voicing their outrage will help prevent this kind of madness happening again for a long, long time. God bless those and their families lost in these blasts, and God bless the police and the rescue workers who are responding to these tragedies. V/R, Chaps IP: Logged |

You people who live in, or near, NYC and DC, please go to your nearest clinic and donate your blood. These two localities will need very much of it. It doesn't seem like it, but there will be many more survivors pulled from the wreckage within the next few days and they will all need blood. (I live in So. Cal. and have already given today.)Thanks, Jay IP: Logged |

yep, I'm sorry, this may be early in the day but I want and expect nothing but a full scale war against the country habouring the people that did this. I doubt that any goverment was actively involved, but also doubt that they didn't know about it either. This is not a thing that will be "made better" by simply taking out the head of the group that did it, after this a REAL message HAS to be sent, no country in the world can deny or condem any highly extreme response to something like this. The country and terrorists involved need destroying with EXTREME predjudice and no quarter given. Personaly (and only personaly) I would have no concern about the use of neuclear weapons as part of the response to this. Ofcourse that wouldn't happen, but thats the worst thing I can think of to do to them, if there was something worse than that I'd do that instead. IP: Logged |

Military is on tactical alert. Borders with Canada and Mexico have been closed (thats the first time that has ever happened). I suspect the plane that went down in PA was trying to go for Liberty Hall and the Liberty Bell (these are my suspicions only). I also suspect that the pilot of the plane in PA knew he was going to die anyway and made sure he crashed away from the town. The words of Admiral Yamamoto keep coming to mind after Dec 7, 1941. "I fear we have wakened a slumbering giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve." The Arab world may think it has seen the power of the US in action during Iraq. Not so... There is a lot more.... I can't believe what has happened, it seems so much like something out of a dream (or nightmare, rather) or some Hollywood movie, but this is REAL, all too real.My thoughts and sympathies go out to the families of the many victims in this horrendous attack. Yes, this is another Pearl Harbor, but it's not quite so easy because we don't know who to focus our aggression on. A scary thought, though; what if it was our own citizens? (ala Timothy McVeigh...)Doesn't seem possible, but we still have to consider this option. True, Jerry, but I think we'll figure it out pretty fast. This was a big operation. We will know soon who executed it, hopefully it won't take much investigation to get to the top. There aren't very many terrorist groups who could execute a plan this big, certainly no McVeigh types.IP: Logged |

My god. I found out at a bank teller's this morning, and I didn't even believe it at first. They've got TVs set up in the Library here at the Uni, loads of people are crowded around. My god. I've felt numb all day. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected, especially the families of those who have lost loved ones. A note for the Canadians on the board - Cdn. Blood Services is asking people to go and donate, they are trying to help out the American Red Cross. I understand from news reports that the US government has a standing threat of military retaliation against Afghanistan should Bin Laden strike any American targets. If most people's suspicions are confirmed, then the day of reckoning will be close at hand. A note for Jeeves - are you and your family ok? I know it's early and we have to make sure of our footing but I'm getting a little tired of these "We'll hunt down whoever did this and punish them." statements. Bush just issued one of these today all though he certainly is not the first president to do this. I don't know, I think I expected a declaration of war by tonight or tommorrow morning. Now it looks like were just going to stand by and take it. Hopefully our government knows more than their letting on. Seems to me with something this big we would have a pretty good idea who is responsible. IP: Logged |

Smokey, if we're honest with ourselves, I think we all know whos responsible, but for govermanet action they need a litte more, not much though, I think the priority is t trace where the attack came from, rather than getting names, if it goes the way we expect, Bin Laden is to blame, but so is Afganistan, it wont take long to trace it to them, then we'll see what Bush does, they appropriate response IMO is an all out attack on Afganistan, and Tac Nuke the terrorist training areas while carpet bombing almost everything else. But before anything can happen they'll take a short time to make sure they are heading in the right direction.I gotta say, I can see anyway that a terrorist organistaion could pull this off without support, or at the very least none-intervention of one or 2 countries, and obviously Afganistan and Iraq spring to mind for funding and support. Just give them a few days to track the route, then we'll see whats going to happen.. Nukes and a large Army are not a deterant unless they get used, a minimal response to this will show that the US isn't to be feared and that you can attack them anyway you like, the US DAREN'T let those thoughts wax amoungst terrorists, and countries that support them.
