Recently I had a question about weird graphics. I was told to delete the cache.tex and cache.dir files. Well, it worked. Here is my question to the patch programmers. Would it be possible to write into the code a means for the program to delete these files after each flight. It's a hassle to exit the program and delete these two files and then restart the program. Yes, I am lazy but I also feel that for the less computer savvy players that this would cut down on their frustration.

Second, would it be possible to write a small program which would allow a player to equip his/her A/C with various weapon loadouts?

Third, how hard would it be to incooporate a way to re-arm an A/C once it ran out of ammo? This would be very useful for extended missions. I hate it when I've got a B-17 in my sights and all I get is "click", "click", from my guns.

Thanks,
Wulfe190

Wulfe,

As for deleting your cache files, that is an easy one. Open Notepad and type in what you would normally type into a dos window.

Example:
d:
cd "fighter squadron"
cd media
del cache.tex
del cashe.dir

Save this file with a .bat extension.

If you are using Windows NT or 2000, you're done. Just place the file you just created on your desktop. If you are using Windows 95/98, proceed to the next step.

Right click on the .bat file you just created and select "Properties".

Select the "Program" tab at the top of the window.

Check the "Close on exit" box.
This will create a DOS shortcut that you can place on your desktop. If you don't do this last step, the DOS window does not close when Windows is done executing the commands.

I know this is not "automatic" but you could alt-tab out of the game, doulble click on the bat file and return to the game.

You can also set your game to unlimited ammo and fuel.

Don't forget though, if you delete your caches after each mission then each mission will take much longer to load since the cache will have to be rebuilt each time. IMO an occasional deletion would be better, like defragging your hard drive.

nd on the loadout question...I am not really sure what you mean? For the planes we currently have, the loadouts are pretty much complete....you just have to open up a mission in the mission editor to change them. And my work on the loadouts is complete and has been handed over to the proper authorities for inclusion in the next PP....or so I hope

Thanks again to those in the know. What I need to do is to sit down and read the manual and the FAQ answers. I just get very annoyed when I see things in the sim that shouldn't be there in the first place....like clouds that look like opaque instrument panels or the guages going physcodelic on me, or the prop of the P51 looking like a rotating rainbow.....

As to the loadout question...again I need to read the manual...excuse my ignorance.

I don't like the idea of unlimited fuel or ammo. Now running out of ammo and then having to return to base to be replenished with ammo or refueled would be something worth considering....maybe not for online play but offline. Hell, with the ground vehicles Harman_5 is doing I'm sure he could make a fuel and ammo truck that would come out and service you....hint...hint....hint.

Once again, thanks guys for enlightening me.
