Does anybody happen to have a pic of the dials layout for the IAR? I've built the panel from this image:

but it would be helpful to know which dial is what, one or two I can tell from looking at it, the most I can't.

Any help anyone?

Thanks

Welcome to the wonderful world of undocumented aircraft I feel your pain.

On the left part of the panel, the big gauge is probably the RPM indicator, in the 0-3000 RPM range.

Central part of the panel: the compass and turn and bank are obvious (well, you just need to know how L for left and R for right translate in Romanian). The lowest on the right is a vertical speed indicator in the -20/+20 m/s range. To the left of the turn and bank could be an airspeed gauge in the 100-700 kph range. Left to the gunsight could be an altimeter. One full turn is 8000 metres, 1 1/4 turn would be 10,000 m.

Agreed patchy, I think you nailed it.

The white one upper right looks like a clock.

"Behind" the gunsight in the middle panel is a weird contraption with four buttons or lights, I'll bet these are the gear indicators. One set for down and one for moving? Could be gun indicators of some sort too. You cojuld reverse everything I just said with the set of buttons below the climb dive which you can see in the other picture.

The compass is interesting, the inner part is a magnetic compass and the outer appears to be a gyro. That's odd because you don't want to put the mag compass inside the panel where the electricity can throw it off. On the other hand this is a great way to combine the two.

In the middle of the left panel the dial is marked with a large "U", I think this was on the german oxygen meters but I'm not sure.

Comparing with the other picture I can see only one difference, the thing we think is RPM is replaced with something with up and down arrows that looks like another climb/dive - even though the other one is still there.

I've asked Mr. IAR for details on all of these.

Maury
