Has anyone else had "drop to desktop" types of crashes(Mild compared to other game problems I've had lately!) with any of the missions in the Corsairs, such as the training ones? Every time I try and load one of these for the air to air selections, for Africa, it happens. The only one which runs is the one against the P-51s, and I wanted to shoot Japs. I've got the 1.5 patch, with Plane Pack 6.0 and Nations v2. I'm thinking it's just got to be a bug for Plane Pack 6.0.DMJ IP: Logged |

Can you fly any other "Zero" missions? The problem may be with the Zero not the Corsair.IP: Logged |

Nothing where it seems there might be Japanese planes. It's strange.--DMJIP: Logged |

Make sure that you have a mission named accordingly in the mission folder. Also make sure (open mission) you have all the aircraft that were written for that mission. While I'm here, has anyone had the same problem with the B-17G. I have a mission that I'm working on for Vagner and when I add a B-17G I get the mucky looking explosions and the mission DT's in the middle. This does not happen however with the addition of another B-17F. Also when I removed the "G" the explosions returned to normal, stumped!P IP: Logged |

From what I understand the 17's a resource hog. Lots of bits that use lots of video ram to produce on screen.IP: Logged |

OK, obviously I've got a nuts and bolts problem here. The Plane Pack 6.0 had lot's of new aircraft in it. I just assumed that there would be the right aircraft for all the missions as the patches and packs I downloaded were all supposed "standard". Currently they're listed as such. Let me ask a curious question. With Plane Pack 6.0 and Nation's v.2, are there supposed to be nationalities listed for actual flying, in addition to US, GB, and Ger.? I'm getting the feeling that I'm missing something. Also is it SOP to have to get seperate file downloads for Japanese planes to run the normal missions outside of the large packs? DMJ IP: Logged |

This should be the case but not necessarily the rule, I do know that there were later releases of some of the Jap planes. Someone had a list of all the A/C in (I think) PP6, that would tell you if the ones you may be missing are or aren't there. For this I would check with Spin, he's the man for that. Did you notice that you were missing any? quote: Let me ask a curious question. Yes but, That particular A/C must be assigned to that nation. Here is an example of my loadout ppf for the A6M5descName "Mitsubishi A6M5" descCountry 'strGermany descPicture "GUI/Art/Hangar/Germany/a6m5/cutaway.bmp" You notice that it is assigned to Germany there for it will not be recognized for Japan. Easy to change though; 'strJapan in place of "'strGermany" quote: Also is it SOP to have to get seperate file downloads for Japanese planes to run the normal missions outside of the large packs?
There again if the A/C didn't make the PP and it is required for the mission the mission will not work without it. I did have a problem with a gun sight in one of the Zero's some time back so I put into a different folder so that the game didn't recognize it. When it was in the A/C folder it caused the DT's. Hopefully all the work that is being done to this game will lessen the incidents of this type. I konw the DIME team as well as the Crew are working very hard to simplify these processes. I hope I answered some of your questions, thanks... P IP: Logged |

paragreen, when you go to choose a nation, the drop down box may appear empty, passyour mouse cursor over it and the different nations will appear. On some aircraft, what you would expect to be a mission you'll find under air to air combat in the training section. If you aren't seeing anything other than the original 3 nations, then nations was installed to the wrong directory. When the pack came out, the only Japanese planes at that time were the Zero's, The Val was added after the packs were released.

Quoting JHead, "If you aren't seeing anything other than the original 3 nations, then nations was installed to the wrong directory. When the pack came out, the only Japanese planes at that time were the Zero's, The Val was added after the packs were released."This sounds like this may be the basis of the problem. I put Nation's ver2 file into the Media Directory under it's own folder, exactly as it came. The one line of instuctions said quote: "UNZIP TO YOUR MEDIA DIRECTORY!!!!" Maybe it's supposed to be placed in there differently, out of the folder? I had learned the routine for RB3D, but I definately don't have this one down yet. What do you think? DMJ

Check inside your Media and see if you have another "Media" If so open it and see if that is where you nations are. If that be the case then you have it installed wrong...P IP: Logged |

I know exactly where it is. It's in it's own folder in Media. The folder is called NationsV2 and that folder is in Media. Is this right or wrong? Something sure is, but I'd like to correct it.--DJIP: Logged |

I checked mine and I have no "NationsV2" folder. So I made a dummy folder and installed to that and everything is in GUI. Sorry it's been a while for me on this subject but I'll tell you what I have.Starting with Media...now keep in mind this is all in the dunny file as it installed; Media/Gui(also in media) Aust Script Readme, Data6.par, Readme, String table, units-fr.html Anything after -Gui- would have been installed in media, from above. in Gui...Gui/gui.ppf and score.ppf So it looks to me that you shouldn't even have a "Nations" folder. Everything should be in the Gui. One thing I know for certain is that there is no folder named nationsv2... Guys check me on this before Paragreen does anything to his files...(did ya catch that Paragreen ) P [This message has been edited by Psi (edited 08-29-2001).] IP: Logged |

Paragreen,There is a tutorial on my website (with pictures even ) on how to install nations correctly go to http://fscentral.50megs.com , and click on the "How to's" link. Now this should work UNLESS you got the self extracting zip I sent werner for testing (I don't know if he posted it yet. If he did, we need to change the instructions). For that one, all you have to do is point it to your Fighter Squadron folder Werner? IP: Logged |

You're saying everything goes in GUI. OK. I'll either try that once or double check first before trying it. Thanks for the input. Really wish the "read me" would have been more specifc here. Gosh! I'm saying that is the way mine is set up and it works for me. Check your data6.par and see if it's 37.0MB/38,805,504 bytes used, that's what mine is. quote: Thanks for the input.
no problem, make the check payable to P IP: Logged |

Well, anyway things are fixed up well now. From what I gathered off of Jug's page, the trick was to simply unzip it raw into the Media folder, GUI folder stuff replacing as needed. Well I unzipped into a FS downloads folder then moved the folder over, but that also followed the one line instuctions as I saw it. Really the folder I refered to "NationsV2" was what was unzipped. I didn't create it.So guys, neat, another little improvement, and a problem solved. Thanks, DMJ IP: Logged |

PG, you aren't the first one this happened to. I installed it wrong the first time too. This is the reason I converted it to a self extracting zip that you just point to the FS folder.IP: Logged |
