Hi,

This is my first post in this forum, so here it goes.
I purchased SDOE about six months ago and left it sitting on the computer desk collecting dust.
Last week I dusted off the disc and loaded her up. I also loaded the official patch, Plane Pack 6.0, Nations V.2, WW1 Open Plane and Meat Water's Sound Pack (thanks to the advise I read on this forum).
Today I took the sim out for a flight, but noticed that the radio chatter was barely audible. I went into the sound options area and turned down the sim fx sound and turned up the radio chatter, however, this did nothing to fix the problem. Is there a way to modify the file so that I can hear the radio chatter?
I also noted that there were no visual indicators to show me where the enemy was. I did note, however, that there was a map, but it didn't really fill the bill during combat. Is there some way to be alerted to the enemy's position in the sim?
Any help you folks could offer would be a great help.

John

CTD, (that has another meaning here) yes, to target hit "T" then "F1" As to the chatter forget it here, it doesn't exist. I suppose you could try mixing in chatter to an enginerun wav and listen to it over and over and over. For additional sounds try http://www.26th-aircorps.org/ Hope that info helps, oh ya to target friendlies hit "Alt T" then "F1"

"Radio chatter doesn't exist"? What about Bogie calls?

Also, Alt-M puts a "radar" on your screen showing all aircraft. Toggle R to change the range. Toggle Alt V to turn on/off vehicle ID.

I think he's talking about ambient radio chatter Jerry. I would have added more last night but I didn't know how much longer this site would be up, that was my second attempt and then the forum quit...

The chatter that I am referring to is the ones where a pilot says "bogies at 9:00". This way I have a quick reference to where the threat is. I can hear the bogies calls, but they are very faint.
I tried hitting "T" to target the enemy, but nothing happens. I was expecting something like EAW's targetting system?
Thanks to everyone for their tips.
I see a note that this site is closing down. Is it true? If so, where do I go now?
Thanks again.

The boggy call sound levels are controlled with the sound FX slider. No to your question this site is not going down, it just went down temporally last night. Just play around with the different sound levels, you'll get it...

Find and download the SDOE 2000 utility. It gives you a whole bunch more control over a lot of stuff in the game. Also, make sure your sound is turned up. There should be a 'speaker' icon on your task bar near the time. Click on it once and make sure the volume is up. Relax, we all do it. (A double click on the same icon gives you the 'master' volume control.) It's highly unlikely but if your sound is low in everything on your machine, you may have a bad speaker.
Most important, don't be worried about asking questions. That's why this forum is here.

My sound settings are fine. I do have sounds in the game that are at good levels. It is just the bogie calls that are faint. I've got wind, engines etc.
Speakers are okay too??
