Here are the highlights of what has been accomplished so far. Patch- the installer has been written and will be undergoing testing before general release. New Plane Pack structure. A new structure for the on-line standard has been developed. This will greatly ease the current confusion, reduce mismatches, and will make life much esaier for newbies. You will be able to add additional aircraft in a manner that will reduce mismatches also. There will be a complete description of what the new system entails posted tomorrow. The post is currently being drafted. Standardized files. Once Da Jug has some of the problems ironed out, we will add these files (after testing) as part of the new standard system.
Thanks for your patience, we know there has been a great deal of frustration with the current status of the plane packs, patches, and on line play. We have been working to clear this situation up so SDOE can flourish once again. ---------------------------------------- The Crew Our Motto: "Stop the Insanity" IP: Logged |

This is just awsome! I just have a couple of questions: 1. Will this standard have updated planes since Plane Pack 6.1? 2. Will this include the 1.5.2.9 Patch, and if so, should we wait until the most recent patch that fixes the breaking DOF's(see Patch forum)? Thanks... weaselIP: Logged |

What'r the odds of contacting GT to ask about including the special airplanes needed for his Bombing The Reich campaign? It would sure simplify setting that up. I had started, but I installed the Planepack AFTER installing his aircraft, and the planepack installation moved some of the BTR required files, like the Manchester, out of the folder SDOE needed it to be in. I have now installed the Planepack FIRST, before I start the BTR files. For what I've seen though, BTR is a killer campaign, the first of ANY flight sim I've seen that covers the British night bombing missions (including THE Dambuster mission). It will continue to be the only one until www.nightbomber.com comes to fruition. It's a darn shame that... was it Interplay, or was it EA, cancelled their big WWII flight sim which would have covered this and more. It would have had the B-24... E.A. (BASTARDS) cancelled Looking Glass' "Jane's Attack Squadron" (aka Flight Combat: Thunder Over Europe) about two months before it was completed (after about 2 years of development). This may have been the one you were thinking of. I'm not 100% sure if it had night-bombing missions, but LG's civilian sims had great night flying, and there were most definitely bombers in JAS (and multiple players could man multiple stations in a single plane), so it seems likely. It was also looking like one of the most customisable (and user-friendly with it) sims ever made. *sigh* :( ------------------ -- Shadowcat One of Many IP: Logged | |
