A trio of Seafires on the Ark Royal

Then all three aircraft are off the deck and on to their first waypoint

Although the carrier can be placed anywhere on a terrain, currently AI will only do a carrier launch in one particular area. Basically a carrier is placed next to a hidden airfield (only 1k in size) which triggers AI aircraft to go 'full' throttle immediately, thus achieving satisfactory launches.

AI carrier launches are working in the Africa / Pacific terrains but this new airfield replaces the Kebili / Louisa airfields. So a terrain 'guru' is needed to incorporate this additional airfield into existing terrains. It would require adding this new airfield to the list of airfields in the terrain.sm file, names.ppf, etc. Also a similar airfield could be placed next to the seaplane base to allow water take offs (this is already available in the Dover terrain). Hope someone can help.

Wow, that's a bit of a breakthrough! Do the planes have to have the catapult system, or can they get off the deck "normally?"

I don't suppose they come back and land?

Jedi, I've only tested it with carrier aircraft. It would depend on the airspeed (at full throttle) of the aircraft at the end of the deck (about 400'). So WWI aircraft I suspect would get airborne without the need of a 'catapult' engine however heavier WWII types would probably need that extra assistance.

As for landing, never say never, but I think it's currently beyond AI pilots.

You are not seriously replacing Louisa AF are you? My wife will kill you! That was the only consolation she got for my taking soooo much time away from her.

Great job though, Mace!

Thanks for those comments.

I will be releasing an update of the Sea Hurricane in a few days time and will include this feature as and option for the Africa terrain only. (so Deigo's wife won't kill me!) Hopefully if the response is positive, we might be able to include it in other terrains as an additional feature.
