I don't know if the strange landing behavior of the P51D has been mentioned before or not, but this isn't the first time I've seen this..and yes, it is noticeable if you are the one landing.

I like to call it "Pogopony".

Was this before you touched down, or after a hard bounce? The new version includes the gear damage from the mustang Raider had worked on.

Before touchdown- airplane bug
Hard bounce- be more careful

Hiya Neal, been a long time buddy.

Yup, Its happened to me as well. I will admit that my landing wasn't perfect but it wasnt hard enough to cause this problem.

We need to get together online and shoot'em up some time.

Gunner!! Has been a looong time...I got online today for the first time in weeks...think I've only flown 10 times all summer. Yup, get up there...we'll do some shoot-em-up! Be a bit like old times.

This was just prior to first touchdown; not after-bounce. Yes, it did bounce after..but he still landed fine. But of course it should bounce - lookit the springs!! No, it is a strange effect...it's like, you get almost to the ground, and the left wheel s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s to touch, then 'zing'!! Comes back up! It's fun to watch.

That was me. I thought I had come down slow enough, but I still bounced. I'm afraid I'm still learning the fine art of taking off and landing. But guess what...I did get my first online kill yesterday!!!!

Thanks to all the guys that I flew with.

nealg, which version of the P-51D is this from. Is it from a Plane pack or the latest beta that Da Jug released?

I will look into this, but I need more information.

It looks like you were coming in at 208 mph with half flaps. What speed did you lower your landing gear?

With this sky color, this was with the .9 patch, is that right?

Thanks for your feedback.

I was coming in at 106 miles and hour with half flaps. I lowered my gear at 120 miles an hour.

I don't have a new P51, I only have whats in the PP6.1

Good spot on the speed Raider, I wasn't looking. Looks like a need to add another line to the pilot's instructions.

Guys, if this is the PP Mustang, it will be replaced, if this is the new Mustang, don't lower the gear until you're below 200 mph or gear damamge may result.

Da Jug head, Raider:

That P51 in the screen shot was me, not Nealg, Nealg took the screen shot. The speeds, and which pack the Mustang came from are given in my prior post.

Hope this clears it up. But judging by the thread, maybe not.

Thanks Kilroy, looking closer I see that is you landing at 89 mph.

Da Jug Head has an improved version. He greatly improved the FM and the landing gear DM has been modified.

Please test the new version (available at Simfiles.com )and report if you see the problem again.

Thanks

And that brings up a interesting point. Thanks, Raider. This should probably go into the Patch Forum, but...Kilroy, then was using the PP6.1 51; I had the latest one ( I'm not in the pic, due a lag crash earlier ) but there was no mismatch. I'm not complaining, but it brings up a interesting thought about file matching in .9 with the option turned off.

I will say, this is the first time I've seen this since I updated the 51 with the latest version; I don't think the newest one does it. It never occurred to me that we could have 2 versions flying at the same time...but I have to say, it's nice not to have mismatches!
