i thought i knew what was going on with 1024 skins and the like but i am not so sure now.ok here goes. if u have a pc that cant handle 1024 skins but can handle 512 skins a 1024 skin will just show up 512 and nothing more. if u have a 1024 skin online and some 1 else in the same plane has a 512 skin then there is NO conflict? correct? thanks. ------------------ MR B`s laws on flying. 1.the enimy will bounce you on 2 ocasions ONLY. 1:when u are expecting them. 2:and when u are not expecting them. 2. the propeller is just a fan to keep the pilot cool, when it stops u can actuly see him get hot under the collar. 3. the ongoing battle between the ground and large pices of aluminum stands as the GROUND: unbeten ALUMINUM:never won. 4.push the stick forwards and the houses get bigger pull the stick and the houses get smaller, but keep pulling the stick back and the get bigger again. 5.A GOOD LANDING IS WHEN U CAN WALK AWAY, A GREAT LANDING IS WHEN U CAN USE THE PLANE AGAIN.;) IP: Logged |

Textures mean nothing online, so who has what isn't a problem. If your graphic card can handle 512x512 but not 1024x1024, then you set SDOE to use 512x512, if you set it higher you will either CTD, or have a blank grey model with no texture. If the aircraft has a 1024x1024 texture and SDOE is set to 512x512 (or smaller) the textire is resized by SDOE down to the setting you chose, the texture will just lose sharpness due to the reduction. ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

I "believe" that if you have 1024 textures checked off in your Options menu then your system will try to show them at 1024 and have problems if it can't handle them - or it may default to 256. If you want to display at 512 you should check the 512 box in Options.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this. IP: Logged |

The model also has to have been updated to use 1024, or you won't see it. And if you have a model that can display 1024, and someone else in the same mission doesn't, you'll get a mismatch.Other than that, I don't think it matters whether you are using a 256, 512, or 1024 skin. If you select 1024 and have a 1024 skin and the model has been updated, you see 1024. Otherwise you only see whatever skin it is you're using. If you have 1024 selected and only have a 256 skin, you see 256. If you have 256 selected and have a 1024 skin, you see 256. If you have 512 selected and a 256 skin, you see 256. If you have 1024 selected and a 512 skin, you see 512. If you have 512 selected and a 1024 skin, you see 512. There's probably another combo or two in there, but you get the idea. Whatever you select will be the HIGHEST possible resolution you can see, but it will only give you the resolution of the skin you have in the texture folder. And if the model hasn't been updated, the most you'll see is 256 no matter what. I haven't seen any actual problems with having the "wrong" thing selected somewhere, but that doesn't mean there aren't any... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged | |
