This is in relation to my "Bugs I've Found" topic. I just re-installed SDOE, then the 1.5 patch, and then the 1.5.2.9 patch. Okay, I have complete control of aircraft in Dover missions with basic game and 1.5 patch. I lose control (everything goes dead including weapons) when I use the 1.5.2.9 patch. So, it seems to me that there is a glitch of some sort with the patch. Any ideas.

The new patch options make pilot deaths more likely. Are you sure you're not experiencing this?

Nope, I'm still alive in the aircraft (at least I think I am). It's as if I put the plane on auto-pilot. Nothing responds. I still get hit by other aircraft and flak (basically a sitting duck). This does not happen in the RhineLand missions. I haven't tried the Africa missions to find out if this happens there as well. Won't be much fun to fly online if I can't fly and shoot.

This happens to me a lot too. It's like the pilot is dead but no red screen. I haven't noticed if the terrain makes a diffence. I'll make a note of it now. I only fly with the patch so haven't noticed it in 1.5.

I have experienced this as well, try "F5/F6" in another A/C then get back in your plane.

This sounds like a pretty asinine problem! I've been considering lately whether to add this new patch or not. Not knowing you were dead in the sim would be enough for me NOT to use it. What's the majority opinion on this new patch? It's been available for about two months now right?

I've got all the main downloads sitting in a file. I'm ready to go as soon as the SDOE CD comes delivered.

If you want to use OpenGL to eliminate D3d jaggies and other D3D texture bugs, use the hi-res skins, have doppler sound and switch between planepak 6.0 and 6.1 with an Option Screen then get the new patch. There are other features which you can read about in the readme that comes with it. I also understand that most of the online flyers are using the .9 patch.

The "dead red" screen isn't working in the 1.5.2.9 version, but they have fixed it for the next version, so it will be easier to tell if you're dead.

You could also turn off the "crewpos radius" option in the setup screen and see if that helps. That option isn't quite tweaked yet.

One way to tell if you're dead--shoot the guns. If they fire, you're alive. (Make sure you're "in control" as well--F6 key).

I think the 1.5.2.10 patch is going to solve a lot of the current problems...

Jedi,

Yep, that's what happens. I can no longer fire guns so I must be getting hit by flak. Damn good gunners those Germans. Thanks for the help. I will try your suggestions.
