I know some of you guys are doing FM'sI've created a tool that makesbalancing the plane much easier after you reach a certain point.
It's a spreadsheet
It takes the weight assigned the plane, subtracts any weights (in LBS) you enter that are assigned to parts (like the engine, etc), and then will calculate the actual weight for the wings and tail section.
It's a pain in one way, cuz you have to enter the dimensions and rel density for each inertia box, but it makes life easier.
Once I run this I enter the weights for the wings and tail section in OPS. To shift the COG fore and aft, you just add or take weight away from the tail. Also any adjustments to the wing, fuselage, or tail inertia box rel
density values aren't passe to the other parts. Makes small adjustments on the COG and wing weight distribution MUCH easier.
The fuselage is not assigned a weight value as it will absorb any weight shaved off the other parts total weight value (i.e if you change the weight for the tail from 600, to 580, the 20 lbs you took away will automatically be distributed among the fuselage inertia boxes). This way you don't have to worry about making sure all of your numbers add up to the correct total.
IF anyone else wants it, I'll clean it up and post it (you'd get lost right now as total boxes are all over the place- I wanted to get it working before worrying about cleaning it up)
