No Casualty, this is just a different packaging.
The issue with the turn rates will be dealt with in the future- the 109G's instantaneous turn rate is faster than the Spit IX's up to 30,000 ft and below 20,000, it beats the Spit by about2-3 degrees per second.
Where the spit had the edge was in max sustained turn rate- by about 4-5 degrees per second.
The difference in the numbers is smaller for the Spit I and 109E, but it's still there.
This will require some major FM tuning on the energy bleed of the 109's and Spits.
Plus there is one otheer issue to consider with the real planes. In a turn, the spit has a lower stall speed and is very gentle about letting the pilot know the inside wing is stalling. The 109 has a nasty habit of rolling on it's back and going into a spin if the pilot doesn't react quickly. It also gives the pilot much less warning than the Spit- hence one reason the german pilots were reluctant to push it to the limits, negating their advantage. This is one of the reasons you read all the stories about the Spit turning better than the 109.
When we get to the 109's I'll see if I can put that nasty habit into the 109 FM and things will be more realistic- but an aggressive 109 pilot, willing to take risks, will still outturn a spit at the beginning of a turning dogfight. And yes, I've read a couple of accounts where a 109 pilot was willing to do that and gave the Spit pilot a nasty surprise.
