just so you know, if the version your testing has a blurry cockpit side wall that looks like something out of WW2 fighters thats just something I put in there cause I was bored. The new cockpit and graphics will look a lot better once I've got all the stuff in.IP: Logged |

this plane rules!!! i LOVE the skin! one thing i did notice though is that the guns are VERY much underpowered (seem more like automatic BB guns) and they have a pretty friggin slow rate of fire! IP: Logged |

Well...The ROF values and projectile weights are correct-- but I believe the game only models a few of them at present-- meaning no matter what values you type in, there are only a few options available in the code-- something I hope the patch team can fix since I went through over 70 of the planes already getting all the values correct I have sent Jug the updated loadout I did, but until we get those bomb racks, I can't add them yet....and this is what is holding up the missions too. I have two more Africa missions to do, then I just need to update the bombing ones when the model is done She is sweet to fly though ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! She is sweet. Flew her against some AM65's. I had the drop on them but the low damage rounds caused a hell of a fight.I see the radiator isn't finished but she flies great! The P-40, or as my wife refers to it as the "Tiger Tooth plane" has always been a favorite, and it's great to have it in the game. I am really looking forward to a final version with an "AVG" skin. P.S. I love this place ! Gunner IP: Logged |

It was a flight of P40s that escorted a flight of B25s on the first raid on Hong Kong. Now we need a B25------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

you guys testing the plane, do you want cockpit reflections or not? I can set it up where all you have to do is change the tif if you want them or not. The cool thing about this plane being worked on is it flew again my Ki-61. Though I think it was a newer version then what we have now but no biggy. IP: Logged |

Very very cool plane, just had tim efor a few minutes flight but it was great ! The 3D model looks very nice, very smooth. Did you use many more polys than for the other fighters ? and I had a good fps rate as well on my slow PC (arnd 30) with one P40 over the Pacific terrain. Noticed a couple of odd details : - I have a double gunsight : one with a little glass and a circle, the second one that should probably be further out on the engine's cowler and that looks to be beside the first one (may be it's normal or may be it's my install). - May be you have a single faced poly in the upper part of the tail, when flying in F2 view, looking at the plane from the left and from the right (alternatively), there's an angle slightly on the left where you kind of see thru the upper rudder.Anyway Great plane , thanks to the whole team. Likewise with me, Managed just a few minutes flying time, but what a beaut! This is what I'm talking about when I rave about this magnificent community! Thanks for all the time and effort, team - keep it up so us hungry little propeller heads have more to shout about Thanks again chaps - Jonners IP: Logged |

Sailor's right about the tail. The top polygons of the rudder are non-coplanar...As a result, the shading on them is a little out too. There are a couple more disappearing polygons on the wing roots and between the wings on the underside. You have to really look for them, but they are there. Apart from that, the plane is absolutely lovely! The gear sequence especially. If I hadn't been zoomed in in f2 mode, I wouldn't have spotted the other poly probs...Must have cycled the gear a dozen times just to watch them turn and swing back with the doors slowly cranking up. Must have taken ages to get right, but it was worth it! She also flies a treat! Hard work to keep straight on the runway...once she starts to go, you are in trouble! She does roll quick, but I don't think it is excessive. Dogfighting zero's is still hard work! Any chance of a sliding hood? Seing her parked up, i just felt the need to let in a bit of air....gets hot in the desert IP: Logged |

Hmmm....You guys like the way this plane flies huh? Wait 'til you get a chance in the P-51B and the new P-51D FM (the D should be ready by the end of the weekend, working on another FM first that Razer has been VERY PATIENTLY waiting for) BTW, believe it or not the roll rate on the P-40F is incredible. The roll rate you guys are getting now is about 0.5 seconds too SLOW from the roll data. When I get a chance to work on the Zero FM's and make the roll rate die off at high speeds, it'll make dogfighting very interesting. You'll need to keep your speed up in a P-40 and try and slow the dogfight down in a Zero IP: Logged |

Thanks for the good reports guys, I'm working on the vanishing polys and I plan to redo a few areas to fix the smoothing problems. The dual gunsight is suppose to be there. Most P-40's have the normal gunsight with an iron backup sight in case the other sight went out. You can't use the other sight it's pretty much there for looks. Argon did a great job on the gear DOFs and I hear they did take awhile to tweak. We do plan to add the moving canopy once I get the new canopt framing in and I finish up more of the cockpit. I think there will be a few new things in the beta 2 release. [This message has been edited by Razer (edited 07-31-2001).] IP: Logged |

Congradulations to everyone on the Kittyhawk team for all your hard work. One can't begin to imagine how much work goes into bringing such a famous warbird to the Fighter Sqn. skies.I love the attentionto detail also ,like the way the gear retracts first one leg then the other,as of cause it does in real life, simply superb effort so far gentlemen can not wait to see the finished product.IP: Logged |

Gustavo- the P-40 had an iron sight on the nose that could be used if the primary gunsight inside the cockpit failed or was shot up.IP: Logged |
