The towns will no longer stay bright in night. And it seams that the town texture fit smoother into the terrain at daylight too.Itīs easy and a quick work,so maybe available tonight for testing. Are there any other objects who stay bright in night? Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Great Work Rends.. Do you know of a way to stop towns, airfields, targets etc from showing up as large squares with the colour of the sky when you mark them as invisible in the ME? This is really annoying to see in the mission. It would be GREAT if this was fixable so that these features are not only invisible but also leave the terrain where they were 'as' terrain. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thx Raider, but it was Brian who post a how to do message at the wingswithwires forum.K2,I looked at the africa.sm file and all looks fine so i have no idea why there are wholes if you made the towns invisible, but most airfields worked fine. Guys, i also can turn the lights on ;-) Do you want to have a bright inflight map at night? Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Looks great Rends, could that work for having a light halo it a town? That way it would appear as some lights are on in the towns. Thanks Rends...P IP: Logged |

the holes that appear when towns ect are made invisible affects every windows version, it's actualy an SM bug.Whats happeing is that when you make a town invisible, the terrain doesn't load it when the mission starts, but the guys at inertia forgot to put a blank tile under the towns, so, when the town isn't loaded, there's now just an empty space because there's no terrain tile there. To fix this we would have to check each SM file to make sure every town/airfield ect needs fixing, then make a single flat terrain tile and import it into the SM file and place below the town, then when the town is hidden the tile will be visible and not leave a hole. ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

I remember talk like this from before, but is there a way we could have a damage tile for the terrain like we have damage skins for the planes? So say you just took out Abbeville Field (sorry Werner )-- when you fly over in the next mission, the mission maker could assign the damage skin to the airfield with wrecked buildings and craters....that would make mission making a helluva lot more fun. Is it doable? ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Jeeves =FC= IP: Logged |

Hey Ren, I realy haven't got time for testing right now, but I wanted to make a further suggestion while you're working on the SM files, thing is, I guess you'll be releasing the fixed/updated files once you've done them, thing is, I wanted to ask if while you're doing that, could you please please lower the obHits value on the Control Towers for the airfields, they are set way way to high and with the new explosion strengths they simply dont die, I dropped 4 1000Lbs bombs around a tower and it didn't even start to smoke This is a known bug now, I just thought maybe you could alter it while you're doing this other stuff IP: Logged |

when something is made invisible on mine I get an empty green feild, with rouds going up to it, I spent 15 mins searching for an airfeild in a B17 that had lost most of its wings and 2 engines, dont ask how I kept it flying. After all that I got it to the Airbase i was supposed to, and the debreife said "We can't afford to keep giveing planes away like that!" and i brought at least half of it back! ------------------ vmartini@ntlworld.com IP: Logged |

Nat, the tower obhits are set to 12000 while a hangar is set to 55000.So it isnīt that strong, but i noticed it too that the tower is a very strong target. And one thing about the holes if you made towns and airfields invisible. I checked the africa.sm and all needed plug tiles are at the right place. Maybe itīs a game bug, because some invisible town/targets works fine while others not. I notice a similar bug at houses. Some started a white smoke but others (same sm)not. Rendsburger Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Ren, I just took a daylight tour of all the air fields and towns in Africa. I love what you did with the new buildings and palm trees, especially the mosque and oasis. Because of your request I paid particular attention to the tile lines. I'm afraid I could see the tile borders around the air fields and towns which you have modified much more than the unmodified ones. This is in OpenGL. If I notice any difference in D3D I'll let you know. IP: Logged |
