The original A6m2-n 'Rufe' seaplane was released as an 'Alpha' concept demonstrator. This aircraft and the 'water' take off / landing system have been significantly improved. 'Beta' features:

A6m2-n 'Rufe':

*Water 'bounce' and 'spouts' have been significantly reduced
*New undercarriage, wheels and gear well added (AI airfield landing characteristics improved)
*Wingtip lights added thanks to razer & nat. I've devised a system whereby they can be switched on /off via the aircraft loadout, i.e., AI aircraft can start with lights on or off. A keystroke command can also switch these lights on or off
*Bullet holes appear on wings and fuselage when 'hits' are taken
*Float shapes now historically accurate. New float rudder and pitot tube added
*Pilot's head moves in sync with stick position
*Realistic 'japan100 bombs used (thanks to mposis)
*New 'skin' of YII-105 flown from Lake Biwa (central Honshu) intercepting US bombers in late 1944
*Texture files reduced, number of LOD's rationalised to improve frame rates and a gear move sound included

'Mogami' Tender:

*Ship moves up and down and side to side to simulate a light sea state
*'Mogami' now has two launching / retrieving cranes and these automatically move up / down
*New superstructure, damage model and 'skin' added

Support Structures:

*Seaplane landing zone now extends over 80% of water in terrains allowing for the practical use of this seaplane
*Seaplane base constructed to allow seaplanes to operate quickly from land into water
*New plyon.sm file included for seaplane races

Nations Version 2.0 is required and the pacific terrain is optional (but desirable). Please read the 'Readme' and 'Seaplane_Ops' files. Download (1565k) includes fifteen training missions (three night) and is 1.5.2.9 compatible;

the P-51B lights are setup and can just be turned on and off with a key stroke. By default they are off so you don't have to worry about them being on during the day.

The Rufe's lights work the same way as the P51b's with the addition of being able to have them on at a beginning of a mission (if you select that option via the loadout). This is ideal for AI aircraft at night.

Very nice, very sleek, never thought this could be possible. Nice forecast for the PBY. Just one thing: Is the shadow of the plane missing due to a technical problem with that land-on-water-thing or is it just a beta-problem? A shadow would be nice to have an reference in the aproach.

At irregular intervals, can't seem to link it to an event yet but does seem to happen under fire so could be DM related.

Thanks for the kind words.

There is a shadow for the original 'zero' but is not a very good one (based on the fw190). So it's on the list for the next update or hopefully someone else will make one for the other zero's so it can be incorporated into the 'rufe'.

Commando thanks for the feedback I'll try to track this issue down.

Mace, been trying to replicate that Prob, can't get it now, must have been a corruption in mem that cleared on reboot. Sorry if I got you on wild goose chase. Been fun though, running all those B17's into the sea even if they don't all sink .

Can the sea plate be lower and the floats had invisible parts that were longer at the bottom maybe allowing the b17's to sink
