As you all know WTG did the model for the PBY. What follows is part of an email prompted by the images that are posted in the Snickwerks:

Welcome Terry. Marc's [another comment I received] sharp eye is quick on the draw, but your combination of landing gear and the curved trailing edge rudder can apply to one aircraft only: BuNo. 1245 was the last of the PBY-4 production run - thus no waist blisters and yes on the curved rudder trailing edge. The Navy sent BuNo. 1245 back to Consolidated for rework, and had amphibious landing gear installed. The Navy designated this plane XPBY-5A.

Items in [ ] are mine.

Not only did WTG do a good job on the model, he did such a good job that someone who flew them in the war and is a much more rabid PBY fan than I could ever be could identify the actual plane!!!!!

So thank you WTG. TeamPBY got better than it know when you came to work for us...

that's pretty cool, I'm sure this would never happen on the ki-61 since most of the pilots that flew her have since moved on to a better place.

But that is still really cool snick. keep up the great work. something has to get the downed pilots that don't make it back in my planes. (wait, is that saying my planes suck?)

I have a friend (my half sisters grandpa, no relation to me) who flew PBY Catalinas (dont know what kind), and he also taught my father how to fly. Maybe I could get ahold of him for you.

Well, I already contacted him, I haven't given him your address yet. But maybe you could go ahead and collect the data ahead of time. He's kinda old, and I hate to say this, but with recent experiences, if you wait to long, you may lose his valuable information, not to mention a great guy .
