Does anyone (primarily Panzer and Roadtoad) mind to me updating the He162? I've gotten pretty far but if anyone objects, please let me know. I've updated many things, giving it its own accurate cockpit, a 512x512 paintjob, a new model, and a new FM. Because of the new model though, It will unfortunately be incompatible with previous skins. Here is a little teaser to help you think... the skin is being scratch made and may take a day or two to finish. The cockpit is almost done being implemented into the plane itself, although I would like someone to help me getting a lighter glass texture and maybe some reflections.

This shows off the 512x512 skin im doing (scratch-built!) its much better in the game.

And the cockpit (this is a very old shot) most if not all of these parts are in the game and function as they did in real life.

So, if noone minds I'll get back to work. BTW, I've been alternating between this and the Aviatik, just so ya know.

I dont think he minds. Hes ben gone for so long now, so why would he? I updated the Go 229 and he didnt say anything...

And as much as I love the updated 229, and as much as I do not want to insult its great progenitors, I think its model needs some tweaking too. I just wish I could do it.

Hey Pachy, you bet your a$$!! Thats the first thing I did! And Lil' the gear have yet to be worked on, the gear dofs are all in place, I just have yet to update the gear model, the wheels will be rounded and much bigger.

I heard from Roadtoad, oh, maybe a year ago now. He had already been gone for some time, but he told me that Panzer never fully recovered after his stay in hospital. Beyond that I don't know.

Must'a heard that cat walking on my grave - 1st time back to board in awhile. ..I'm pretty sure that Panzer would agree with me that its great that y'all are improving on anything we did way on back. .. Since the whole premise of the community is improvement of the experience for those enjoying it, don't worry about some illusion toward intellectual property rights on the 162 or 229.
.. Indeed, if y'all would send a link to mike@fireman.net telling me where people can download the improved versions (including me!) I'll pull the downloads from my old site and just put the links with gracious credit to y'all, etc.. Amazingly, I'm still getting 10 hits a week on the site, and I've not touched it in over a year.
- Sure neat to see this forum is hanging in so well. Aside from the fun of play, I think its done a great job of teaching many of us in programming and working those 2D and 3D gfx apps. Best part is the great people you get to meet and know while we're sharing all this discovery. hey, properly considered, even the pissing contests are fun -roadtoad

Nice to visit again. Wish I had time to get back to all those unfinished projects in my SD archive, but life is still very busy. I got a mail from Panzer several months ago, and he's doing other things himself, but thankfully he's still living
..I've updated our website. Not only have I linked the Go229 to Argon's site, I've put up the Westland Whirlwind we got flying long ago for a download. It flies pretty well and is textured, and if anyone wants to do anything to it they are welcome to have at it. -rt
