So many to choose from, but if I limit myself to WW2, in all honesty, if I were really there, I think I would feel most comfortable in a:

de Havilland Mosquito FB VI

If I don't limit myself to WW2, anyone who's been to my website will probably already know that my choice would be the Panavia Tornado IDS!

Toss-up, between Spifire V and IX series. Any Spitfire, though; inexplicable. If asked, I cannot really say why - beauty, grace, something about them. Second would be the Tempest, next the P51 ( B and D ).

WWII:
Mosquito Mk.IV
Lancaster Mk.I
Spitfire V or IX
Lysander
Beaufighter
Mustang

Non-WWII:
Constellation
EE Lightning
Hawker Hunter
F-4 Phantom
Martin P6M Seamaster
Hercules

I reckon it's impossible for most people here to name only one .

I've always had a thing for the F6F Hellcat.

But I also loved the following:

P-39 Airacobra
P-51B Mustang
B-26 Marauder
Ki-61 I Hien

(wait a min, isn't that all the planes I'm working on? )

Da Jug (P-47 Thunderbolt)

A very close second would have to be the Lady of the skies- The Flying Fortress.

If I were to seperate WWI, I'd have to say the Spad XIII (hey plane builders- you build her and I'll make her fly!)

As far as visual appeal, I would have to say that the P-38 is the most beautiful plane ever made.

In terms of performance, I'm attracted to the P-47 for it's ruggedness and versatility.

Easy.
#1: Grumman G-44 Widgeon/Gosling

#2: North American T-28D Trojan

#3: Beechcraft D-17S Staggerwing

All those WWII fighters, screaming round the sky are OK, but they're just no match for having a leisurely chug around in a Widgeon, then splashing down in some deserted lagoon.

WWII would have to be :
Bubble-Top Typhoon
Spitfire Mk XIV (with clipped wings)

Spitfire (ANY Spit, as long as it's got a Merlin, and no Vokes filter).

A6M5 (as close to "perfect" lines for an airplane as you can get).

P-51D (HORSEpower! Should need no explanation)
